Overwatch 2 dev confirms Sojourn and Mercy pocket nerf is coming soon
Overwatch 2 developer has confirmed that a nerf set to address the frustrating Sojurn and Mercy combination dominating matches throughout Season 2 is set to arrive very soon.
Much like its processor, the key to hitting the highest ranks in Overwatch 2 is making the most of your hero and learning how to combine their abilities effectively with other characters. But as fans will know, not all heroes are created equally and some are much more effective than others.
Sojourn has been one of the most powerful DPS characters in Overwatch 2 so far, and has received multiple nerfs already. Despite these adjustments, savvy players have been using Mercy’s damage boost ability to restore her full potential, leading to plenty of frustrating matches where the pair have dominated.
The DPS hero, when combined with Mercy’s damage boost ability, can eliminate 200 health heroes with a single headshot, which has been the main source of the backlash.
After receiving a number of complaints about the Sojourn Mercy pocket, a Blizzard dev has now revealed that another nerf is on the way.
The confirmation came after Twitter user ‘Crackinlmao’ mentioned the official Overwatch 2 account, again calling for the duo to be adjusted.
Sojourn with a Mercy pocket every single game is genuinely depressing. The higher rank I get the worse it is,” they said. “Please @PlayOverwatch how is this still a thing? If S3 is like this I’m uninstalling [as] I CANNOT do this. So hard to love a game that is just so bad.”
Overwatch Community Manager, Jodie Grace, quickly responded by saying that she understands the anger among the community, but a fix is in the works.
“Totally fair. I know it feels bad right now, especially when you see it so frequently in your games,” said Grace’s reply. “We’ll have more to share soon, but changes are coming!”
Sadly, she didn’t go into any specifics about the changes that are being prepared, but many other players replied urging the devs to nerf Sojourn’s kit rather than Mercy.
They also didn’t give a clear timeframe on when the nerf would be released. However, with Overwatch 2 Season 3 just weeks away, players shouldn’t have too long to wait.
