Overwatch 2 players have been reporting wonky hit registration and rubberbanding since the game launched, and Blizzard have addressed the situation in a blog post.

The launch of Overwatch 2 has been a success for Blizzard, with millions of players new and old dropping into the hero shooter. However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing as a number of issues have spoiled the experience at times.

Compensation is being sent out after frustrating server problems led to huge queues over the first few days, and DPS heroes Bastion and Torbjorn had to be removed for maintenance.

Players have also been reporting issues with hit registration during matches, as well as severe rubberbanding. The devs have now responded to these last two issues in an effort to reassure the community.

In an October 13 blog post, Blizzard said that they planned to release a fix that will prevent rubberbanding in a “future patch,” although they didn’t give any timeframe on when this will arrive.

On the hit registration problem, the devs said that they “want to be certain that hit registration for shots fired is working pixel-perfectly players,” but players may just be seeing a discrepancy in Overwatch 2’s replays.

They said: “We have investigated reports from players about hit registration, and many reports are actually related to how our replay tool works, which does not perfectly capture the alignment of each player’s aim.”

They also pointed out that there was some confusion over how some in-game settings work for those using a controller on PC.

The post said: “There are also misconceptions about how our controller settings on PC work, which does not affect mouse input. As an example, aim smoothing under gamepad does not impact mouse input latency or precision.”

This being said, Blizzard did reveal they have discovered a bug with the hitbox alignment on Junker Queen which can occur occasionally and are “working diligently” to find a solution.

Although players will have to wait for these Overwatch 2 issues to be sorted, the developers did solve a number of lingering issues in the October 13 patch. By the sounds of things, another round of fixes will be on the way very soon.
