Overwatch 2 Season 8: Battle of the Beasts mode explained
Blizzard EntertainmentOverwatch 2 Season 8 kicks off with the new Battle of the Beasts limited-time event mode, so here’s everything you need to know about it.
Overwatch 2 Season 8 is kicking off with a bang, as not only are players being gifted a brand-new Tank Hero in Mauga, but Blizzard have also decided to drop a brand-new event mode along with the update’s launch on December 5.
The new Overwatch 2 Season 8 event mode is called Battle of the Beasts, and for those who’d like to know how it works, here’s everything you need to know about the LTM.
What is Battle of the Beasts in Overwatch 2?
Battle of the Beasts is a new LTM in OW2 arriving on December 5, 2023. It sees players battling it out in a 4v4 PvPvE experience. Teams will be fighting to defeat the opposition’s “Grand Beast.” Additionally, players will have to be wary of the enemy team. The fight team to defeat the other’s Grand Beast wins.
In this mode, players can enjoy Mauga for free as the only available Tank Hero for Battle of the Beasts. Others can play a variety of other Heroes such as Soldier 76 and Baptiste.
The mode comes along with an event, which poses new challenges for players to complete and earn “new cosmetics, including a highlight intro for Mauga and a new name card,” plus “up to 25,000 Battle Pass XP to get a head start on the Season 8 Battle Pass.”
It’s not clear when the event and mode will be removed from Overwatch 2, but we expect it to last around two weeks like other events in the past.
