Overwatch 2 dev responds to projectile size complaints in Season 9
Blizzard EntertainmentThe Overwatch 2 Season 9 brought massive changes to how projectiles work, and players have been concerned that they’re overtuned. Now, devs have responded to the community with what the path forward looks like.
Season 9 of Overwatch 2 has brought one of the biggest updates to the game yet. One of these changes reworked projectile sizes and hitboxes as an answer to the universal health increase and health regeneration passive introduced.
Players have been noticing, however, that the projectile size change has made it possible to hit players with quite a wide berth around the character model.
Overwatch 2 players are finding themselves getting hit by projectiles while behind walls and ADS strafing, making it almost impossible to work around anyone who takes a shot at them.
The community has been quite vocal about these issues, and the Overwatch 2 devs have responded with some changes we could see in future to make the projectile changes more fair.
“Expect finer tuning of the projectile size changes for a subset of heroes and some health adjustments,” Alec Dawson, Lead Hero Designer for Overwatch 2, said on X. “Accuracy numbers are meeting intentions but some are pushed a bit too far.”
This information came out after a hotfix that adjusted Junker Queen’s melee damage and took away some game-breaking Doomfist bugs.
Another issue fans have been bringing up is the strength of the new DPS passive and how difficult it is to play Tank as a result. While nothing has been mentioned about the changes to the passive, Dawson did tell fans to keep the feedback coming.
While we are not sure what exact changes will be made to projectiles and health pools, we know that the devs are working to make them more viable in matches. We will keep you updated with any fixes that come in future.
