What are Overwatch 2 Mastery Missions?
Overwatch 2 Mastery Missions is a fairly new mode where players can practice with their favorite heroes. They were developed as a way for new players to learn the game without having to jump into Quick Play, Arcade, or Competitive until they are comfortable doing so.
Each course is laid out in a simulation, with bots to heal and damage – depending on the hero you have chosen. Players earn a score that depends on a few game mode objectives.
Mastery courses have three levels for each hero: Recruit, Agent, and Veteran. Agent can be unlocked by completing the Recruit course with three stars, and the Veteran level can be unlocked by completing the Agent course with four stars. Each course has its own score requirements, but the basics remain the same throughout.
Mastery Missions are timed. The better your time, the better the outcome of your run. The times are split into 3x, 2x, and 1.5x multipliers. You don’t have to complete the course within these times – in fact, you can take as long as you want – but the closer you get to the multiplier time, the higher your score will be.
Eliminating and healing bots also adds to your score, alongside picking up as many Mastery Emblems as you can. Mastery Emblems are lying around the course for pickup. Your score at the end of your run will give you a certain amount of stars which you need to start the next level.
Overwatch 2 Mastery Missions Heroes & schedule
The Overwatch 2 Mastery Missions for Mercy, Reinhardt, and Tracer were released mid Season 6, while Winston and Sojourn were released a bit later in 2023.
Lucio’s course was launched on January 2, 2024, with the announcement that there will be more to come. These are the heroes we can expect in the coming month:
- Mei on January 9
- D.Va on January 16
- Echo on January 23
- Genji on January 30
Lucio’s course has been laid out to give players great wall-riding opportunities, booping bots off the map, and healing bots for more points. While you don’t have to heal bots to move on to the next area of the course, they give you more points for a higher score at the end. You can try out Lucio’s Mastery Mission now.
Blizzard have also reset the leaderboards to give players a chance to prove themselves as among the cream of the crop.
