Overwatch 2 players frustrated as disabled aim assist makes game “difficult”
Overwatch 2 players are disappointed to find that aim assist becomes disabled in crossplay, ruining the experience for controller players.
Overwatch 2 is a fiercely competitive game that focuses on teamwork, Hero abilities, and aim. While picking the best Heroes to counter your enemies can be vital in achieving a victory, there are many factors that are at play when it comes to dominating in Overwatch 2.
One of these factors is being able to stay on target and hit your shots, especially if you’re playing DPS characters.
Having the best reticle can do wonders, however, the difference between being on mouse and keyboard and controller is also huge, especially when aim assist is removed in the PC crossplay pool.
The removal of aim assist for controller players in PC crossplay lobbies is exactly what Reddit user KellySweetHeart has highlighted in a post made in the Overwatch subreddit.
In the post, the OP explains how the removal of aim assist for their friends on console is “a total bummer,” and is ultimately causing “less enjoyment” for controller players due to the disadvantage.
Further, the OP also states that they feel “PC players already perform better on average,” so the removal of aim assists for console players “hits like a double whammy.”
They hope that Blizzard “reverse this,” and it seems many agree in the comments, with some sharing their experiences, “I thought I was just f*****g awful with my friends and better solo cause I didn’t have to compete with my friends…I had no clue my aim assist was disabled.”
Another comment brings up a point about playing crossplay, saying that “considering it doesnt allow you to play competitive during crossplay then they might as well add the aim assist.”
We’ll have to wait and see how Blizzard responds to these requests, but it seems they may have bigger fish to fry at the moment, working on gifting players cosmetics as an apology for the poor servers at launch, as well as having to disable Heroes due to bugs and glitches.
