Overwatch 2’s Symmetra gets game-changing secret buff in Summer Games patch
Blizzard EntertainmentOverwatch 2’s Symmetra has received a secret buff that wasn’t mentioned in the Summer Games patch notes.
With Overwatch 2 Season 6 on the horizon, the devs decided to drop the Summer Games event in Season 5 of the Hero shooter.
As well as bringing summer-themed cosmetics, the event also introduced the Team Queue Competitive mode and a variety of balance changes in the patch notes, including buffs and nerfs for Heroes.
A lot of the game’s characters received updates, with Zenyatta getting some pretty brutal nerfs and Soldier 76 receiving some damage increases to his kit. That said, one of the Heroes who has benefitted the most from the update is Symmetra.
Symmetra received a buff to her Photon Projector damage, and despite her Sentry Turret now dealing less damage, they now reveal enemies being damaged by them for the team. Symmetra now has more utility, but that’s not all the changes she received in the update, as the devs decided to give her another secret buff.
Symmetra’s secret buff in Overwatch 2 Season 5
As of the Overwatch 2 Summer Games update, Symmetra can now gain 30 shield health per second when damaging enemy shields with her Photon Projector primary fire. This includes enemy barriers such as Symmertra’s Ultimate and shields like Winston’s bubble.
This makes her extremely strong, as it increases her survivability when in the heat of battle. Now, Symmetra will be able to use offense for defense, gaining shield health when being aggressive toward enemy barriers and shields.
This change was not mentioned in the patch notes, and it’s unclear why, as it’s a pretty big buff that could see the character being used a lot more in Competitive play. There’s a chance that this buff was not meant to go live with the patch, but we’ll have to wait for an official dev response to see if that’s the case.
