New Pals in Palworld

Palworld is set to introduce a ton of new content to the game through the upcoming Sakurajima Update. Excluding the Bellanoir raid, the game has yet to receive any new content since its successful early access release.

However, the devs are set to rectify this by dropping a comprehensive update soon featuring new Pals, weapons, a brand-new raid boss, and more. So, here’s everything you need to know about the Sakurajima Update.

Palworld Sakurajima Update release date

The Palworld Sakurajima Update will be released on June 27. A trailer showcasing the update’s contents which debuted during Summer Games Fest 2024 confirmed the release date.

New Pals

The SGF trailer for the Sakurajima Update provided a thorough look at the Pals coming in the future. Their abilities and names are yet to be revealed, but here are four Pals that the devs have advertised:

  • A frog wearing a karate uniform that can cast spells using a wooden stick.
  • An ostrich-like Pal who appears to have Ground element attacks.
  • A strange dog-like Pal who is skilled in some form of martial art.
  • A green-colored dinosaur with a mushroom for a hat.

At least four new Pals are coming.

The update will bring many other Pals besides these four, including subspecies for existing Pals such as new versions of Chillet and Katress.

Weapons

The trailer also provided a look at two new weapons coming to Palworld. The first appeared to be a standard Flamethrower and some sort of futuristic Laser Rifle that can fire beams at enemies.

New island

The Sakurajima Update will introduce a new island that takes inspiration from Japan and features cherry blossom forests, torii gates, and more. The region is also dotted with stone paths leading up to large shrines but that’s not all, as it houses other distinct environments as well.

This includes a swamp-like biome with large mushrooms growing out of the ground and spreading all over. Going by the trailer, this environment is inhabited by the aforementioned green dinosaur Pals.

Another environment players can expect to see is a spooky graveyard, inhabited by one of the new Pals coming with the update.

Building options & level cap

The base game featured a level cap of 50 but this will be boosted with Palworld’s Sakurajima Update. This will allow players to level up even further and strengthen their Pals in the process.

The update will also add new base building options with structures inspired by the new island’s aesthetic. New resource-gathering structures such as Sulfur Mines and Coal Mines will be making their debut, alongside decorative structures like Pillars and Glass displays.

Some restrictions on building will also be removed with the update and the maximum number of bases players can have will be increased.

New Faction

The Sakurajima Update will bring a new faction to the game.

A new Faction is coming with the Sakurajima Update. While we’re yet to find out the name or how encounters against the Faction will play out, the devs did tease a new Tower boss. The tease featured a blue-haired girl sitting on a crescent moon accompanied by a white-colored Pal with a moon-shaped insignia on its head.

New raid boss

The Sakurajima Update will introduce a new raid boss to the game. Details are sparse at the moment but we do know how the boss looks, and it appears to be a new iteration of Blazamut. This Fire Element Pal is one of the strongest in the game, so you can expect the raid encounter to be very challenging.

Pal Arena

Lastly, the Sakurajima Update will bring the highly-requested PvP feature to the game through Pal Arena. This new feature will allow Pal Tamers and their strongest Pals to duke it out against other players in 3v3 battles. These fights will take place in a stadium and will likely offer rewards to the victors.

We’ll be sure to update this article once more information arrives. While you wait for the update’s release, make sure to wrap up the Bellanoir raid boss and defeat all the Tower Bosses.
