Patch Update 1.05 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 now live, Big Changes Included

A new patch update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, version 1.05, is now live on PS4 and Xbox One. Coming to PC tomorrow. The update is about 9.5GB on PS4 and 11.37GB on Xbox One (size will vary by region and platform).

This new patch update brings Nuketown map to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PlayStation 4, with release on Xbox One and PC to follow on November 20.

First up: Nuketown has arrived! One of our most popular maps of all time makes its reimagined debut in Black Ops 4, complete with its own unique surprises to discover. In true Treyarch tradition, we’re kicking off the Nuketown Featured Playlist this week on PS4 to celebrate. As a reminder, Nuketown is free for all Black Ops 4 players, launching today on PS4 and available on all platforms next week.

Today marks our biggest stability update to Zombies since launch. We’ve implemented 60+ fixes for crashes and other issues across all four maps with this update, covering everything from Easter Egg quest crashes and Max Ammo bugs to exploits in Classified and the return of Speed Cola functionality. The team has been hard at work to deliver an always-improving Zombies experience with today’s updates, and we continue to prioritize overall stability above all else.

We’ll be able to provide more concrete details on upcoming Zombies features in future community updates, including the Black Ops Authenticity Stamp system, Daily Callings, host migration support, splitscreen improvements, and more. We know there’s a ton of interest and anticipation about the road ahead for Zombies in Black Ops 4, and we’re excited to share more on what’s coming when we’re closer to debuting each new feature. For now, ensuring a fun, stable Zombies core experience for all players comes first.

We’ve made numerous gameplay balance updates to weapons across all modes, with several changes to gameplay specific to Multiplayer, including tweaks to the SG12 Strobe Light, SMGs, the Titan, and Cold Blooded. Some big changes have also been made to Ajax on the Specialist front, shortening the duration of his 9-Bang flash effect, reducing his accuracy when the Ballistic Shield is up, providing better counters to the 9-Bang and Ballistic Shield, and more. We’ve added the new Endurance Chaos Moshpit playlist to the Featured category in MP, featuring doubled score limits across 6v6 matches of TDM, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed. Mercenary Capture Moshpit also makes its return to the Featured category for our lone wolves who live to PTFO, and Gun Game remains in rotation for another week. CWL Custom Games have also been added today, offering CWL ruleset variants of Hardpoint, Control, and Search & Destroy.

Big news in Blackout: the Bowie Knife joins the arsenal and Zombies invade Nuketown Island on PS4, plus all players get access to the “Icons” Character Missions to unlock Mason, Woods, Menendez, and Reznov! The new Team Scoreboard has been added to Duos and Quads in this update, so you can check on how your squad is performing during the match. We’ve also made an update to allow weapons to now stream in faster at the start of each match to make sure everyone gets into the action once they hit the ground running.

We’re also happy to announce the launch of Daily Tier Skips in Multiplayer and Blackout for all players! Simply win a match in MP or earn a Merit in Blackout each day to redeem a daily Bonus Tier in the Black Market. This allows players to earn Contraband items even faster, and it’s a permanent addition to the game. Blackjack’s Shop is also now live on PS4 in the Black Market with new ways to customize your Multiplayer and Blackout experience, arriving on additional platforms next week.

      • Teamkilling a player near their own Care Package will now reflect damage back to the attacker. This is done to prevent teamkilling to steal a teammate’s Care Package. You know who you are.
      • Adjusted Health model so that we can better balance out low-damage weapons in Hardcore, such as SMGs and Pistols.
      • Armor has also been rebalanced for Hardcore, impacting a variety of weapons across different ranges. Armor can effectively counter some weapons by requiring an extra shot, and higher-damage weapons counter Armor by overriding its protection.
      • Razor Wire no longer does team damage to teammates who melee the Razor Wire.
      • Resolved an issue where Bots would not play a Hardcore variant of a mode correctly.
    • Heist
      • Seeker Shock Mine cost increased.

Activision is enabling fans to support their favorite Call of Duty pro players and content creators with the ‘Support a Creator’ program, so here’s everyone you can support through the Store.

With some of the biggest names in gaming playing and promoting Call of Duty, Activision has launched the ‘Support a Creator’ program. Here, CDL pro players, streamers, and YouTubers receive a cut of the profits made from purchases in the Call of Duty Store.

Across Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War, these creators and pros will receive $5 for every 10,000 CoD Points spent with their code inputted.

How to use CoD Support a Creator code

To support your favorite Call of Duty content creator or pro, you need to enter their code in the Store.

After purchasing CoD Points, make sure you have inputted one of the creator codes below before purchasing any bundles from the Store.

To select a creator to support:

  1. Launch Modern Warfare, Warzone, or Black Ops Cold War
  2. Navigate to the Store tab
  3. Select “Support a Creator”
  4. Input one of the creator codes below
  5. Purchase a Bundle or Battle Pass with your CoD Points
  6. Your selected creator or pro will now receive a portion of the profits from your purchase

These codes will expire after two weeks, so make sure to double-check you have a code inputted before making a purchase.

And as a reminder, enter these creator codes in all caps.

Western Digital has announced a limited time special edition of WD_BLACK drives themed after Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

Hard Drive/SSD manufacturer Western Digital has partnered with Activision to bring specially themed Black Ops Cold War Drives for a limited time.

The Western Digital Black Ops Cold War drives are available now and include specially branded WD_BLACK drives, some of the fastest available in the Western Digital inventory, all catered to gaming.

Included with each purchase will be Call of Duty Points, which fluctuates in quantity depending on which drive you purchase.

The designs of the drives are also quite nice for both the external and internal drives.

For the external drive, a hard drive and NVMe SSD is available, making sure next-gen console gamers and even PC gamers can get an easy to use and portable high-speed SSD.

Black Ops Cold War Themed Drives Prices & Availability

Currently, the specially themed drives are only available on Western Digital’s shop, and not at retailers such as Best Buy. Here’s the rundown of the selection.

As of writing, the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe is currently out of stock. It’s unknown when there will be a restock, or if there is a plan to roll out these drives to retailers.

Here’s our picks for the 5 best Call of Duty: Zombies maps ever created.

Call of Duty Zombies has been around for almost 13 years now, starting with Call of Duty: World at War’s release in 2008. What started as a small bonus mode after completing the campaign turned into a phenomenon for Call of Duty, attracting new fans and creating a brand new core game mode for Treyarch titles.

This list will be our list of the top 5 Treyarch Zombies map, in no particular order. It is worth noting that both Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have tried their own Zombies modes, with Sledgehammer attempting Exo Zombies in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, then opting for traditional Zombies in Call of Duty: World War 2. Infinity Ward also tried in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and created a surprisingly fun/goofy experience.

If you’re a fan of those games, don’t expect to see any of the maps on this list, as we’re going to reminisce on some of the greatest Treyarch Zombies maps.

#5 – Origins (Black Ops 2)

Origins set a new standard for large-scale Zombies maps after its release as the final Black Ops 2 DLC map. With boss Zombies, upgradable elemental staffs, and a huge easter egg, the future was looking bright for the Call of Duty Zombies experience. Origins introduced the “Wunderfizz” machine, which awards players with a random perk in the game.

Players were also treated to many map secrets, which included being able to enter the giant robots that roamed the map, and also secret gramophones that unlocked access to a different realm.

Origins also saw a remaster in Black Ops 3 with the “Zombies Chronicles DLC”

#4 – Der Eisendrache (Black Ops 3)

Following the trend for large scale maps, Treyarch set out to make one of the most beautiful and fun Zombies maps with Der Esiendrache. Set in a large castle in Austria, this map had a few callbacks to Origins, with elemental bows instead of staffs and even mechanical Zombies, or “Panzersoldats”.

The easter egg for this map also had an epic boss fight against an Apothican Keeper, which rewarded players with a cutscene once completed.

#3 – Kino Der Toten (Black Ops)

One of two maps included with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops was Kino Der Toten, a simple Zombies map that took place in an abandoned German theater. This map marked the beginning of the next stage of the Zombies storyline and added the iconic “Thunder Gun” into the mystery box.

#2 – Der Riese (World at War)

Der Riese was the final map for World at War and introduced many huge changes to the Zombies formula, like the introduction of the iconic pack-a-punch machine. Additionally, teleporters were added for the first time, and the first real functional easter egg appeared on this map.

The Zombies storyline also truly took off from here, with the addition of secret audio logs hidden on radios around the map.

#1 – Ascension (Black Ops)

Prepare for takeoff! Ascension was the first DLC map added to Black Ops and set a high bar for the rest of the DLC additions. Players started the game entirely in black and white, only to see color when the power was switched on.

The map had several new amazing pieces of equipment, like the Gersh Device and Russian Dolls. Additionally, the new lunar landers added an extra layer of verticality across the map. Ascension had the first full-length story-driven easter egg in the franchise, which rewarded players with a 90-second death machine.
