Dragonite weaknesses explained in Pokemon
Dragonite is weak to Dragon, Fairy, Ice, and Rock-type attacks in Pokemon. Keep in mind that it is 4x weak to Ice-type moves, but by Terastallization to some other type, Dragonite need not worry about it.
That’s not all, as Dragonite’s Multiscale ability reduces damage taken from moves by 50% when this Pseudo Legendary is at full HP. This makes Dragonite an excellent lead in battles, but if you want to bring it out later and are worried about hazards like Stealth Rock, you can use the Held Item Heavy-Duty Boots.
Dragonite resistances explained in Pokemon
Dragonite resists Bug, Fighting, Fire, Grass, and Water-type attacks and is immune to Ground-type attacks in Pokemon.
Aside from resisting all starters, its Ground-type immunity is a boon since it can easily switch into a move like Earthquake and use this turn to boost its Attack with Dragon Dance. This strategy is very similar to another Dragon/Flying-type, Salamence. But Salamence is faster and hits harder, making it more important for Dragonite to salvage the opportunity and use Dragon Dance.
Dragonite strengths explained in Pokemon
Dragonite uses its STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) Dragon and Flying-type moves to hit Dragon, Bug, Fighting, and Grass-type Pokemon super-effectively.
Scarlet and Violet battles paved the way for a new strategy with Dragonite that has made it into one of the deadliest species in the meta. Use Dragon Dance and Terasatallize Dragonite into Normal Tera Type, and then use the Priority Normal-type move, Extreme Speed, to dish out incredible damage to your opponents. Its impressive 134 Attack stat is a huge bonus as well.
While this trick works wonders, don’t forget that Ghost-type Pokemon are immune to Normal-type moves, so use a different attack on them.
