Chesnaught Tera Raid Battle dates in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
The second set of Chesnaught Tera Raid Battle dates takes place from June 15 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET / 1 AM BST (June 16) to June 18 at 4:59 PM PT / 7:59 PM ET / 12:59 BST (June 19). Players already had a chance at this Raid between May 12 and May 14. After some issues that are now fixed, the second set of dates had to be delayed.
The 7-Star Tera Raid Battle features Chesnaught with the Mightiest Mark, meaning players can only catch one per save file.
This marks the debut of Chesnaught in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the same way it did with Decidueye in March and Typhlosion in April, among other fan-favorite starters. That means that it might be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods later on.
The Chesnaught debut in the latest Pokemon game has players thinking Delphox will soon follow to complete the Kalos starter trio. Greninja already headlined a Tera Raid Battle event in January and February.
Chesnaught Tera Type and moveset in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Chesnaught has the Rock Tera Type in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-Star Tera Raid. That means it’s weak against Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel-type moves. On the other hand, it can resist Fire, Flying, Normal, and Poison-type attacks.
Regarding Chesnaught’s moveset, it knows Hammer Arm (Fighting), Stone Edge (Rock), Wood Hammer (Grass), and Earthquake (Ground). Additionally, players should be ready to debuff Iron Defense, Bulk Up, and Curse for better chances. While Iron Defense increases Chesnaught’s Defense, the other two moves improve both its Attack and Defense stats.
As we could figure out from previous Tera Raid Battle events, Chesnaught has the Bulletproof Hidden Ability. This means it will be immune to ball and bomb moves like Seed Bomb, Bullet Seed, Zap Cannon, and Focus Blast, among many others.
Best counters for Chesnaught 7-Star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
While Chesnaught has many weaknesses, it’s not recommended to use pure Water, Ground, or Steel-type Pokemon in this Tera Raid Battle because they’ll be at a huge disadvantage. Weirdly enough, Fighting and Grass-type Pokemon might work great here if you’re looking to deal super-effective damage.
Of course, you can also try picking a counter that can resist most of Chesnaught’s attacks instead. Also, keep in mind that Chesnaught’s Defense stat is very high, so you should probably try to pick a special attacker for this Raid.
That said, here are some of the best counters for this Tera Raid Battle:
Best Annihilape strategy for Chesnaught 7-Star Tera Raid
Annihilape is once again a great option for the Tera Raid Battle thanks to its dual Ghost and Fighting-type combination. As with previous events, Annihilape can resist most of Chesnaught’s attacks and it’s immune to any Fighting-type moves. You can use Screech in the first couple of turns to lower Chesnaught’s Defense and then spam its signature move, Rage Fist.
Keep in mind that each time Annihilape is hit, the power of Rage Fist will increase. This won’t reset if you faint, so you should be done fairly quickly. The only problem here could be Earthquake, but with a powerful support team, Annihilape is a great choice. Items like Shell Bell can also help greatly in this case.
Best Appletun strategy for Chesnaught 7-Star Tera Raid
The dual Dragon and Grass-type Pokemon Appletun is a fan-favorite pick for this Tera Raid battle. It’s a Special Attacker with great bulk that can resist Ground and Grass-type moves, which makes it perfect for this Raid.
Its signature move Apple Acid is the key to victory since it will lower Chesnaught’s Sp. Defense by one stage every time without fail. Once you use it in the first couple of turns, you can spam Giga Drain a few times to defeat Chesnaught with ease. Having Iron Defense and Reflect as additional moves can help, but they won’t be entirely necessary if Appletun is leveled up.
Best Klefki strategy for Chesnaught 7-Star Tera Raid
Thanks to its dual Fairy and Steel-type combination, Klefki can resist Chesnaught’s Grass and Rock-type attacks. Although it’s weak against Ground-type moves, using Magnet Rise early in the battle will make Klefki completely immune to Earthquake.
After that, use Metal Sound to lower Chesnaught’s Sp. Defense and Calm Mind to increase Klefki’s Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense. To inflict damage, you can use the powerful Flash Cannon for a swift victory.
Other powerful counters for this Tera Raid Battle include Koraidon, Gholdengo, and Decidueye.
