How to beat Mega Swampert Raid in Pokemon Go
NianticMega Swampert is one of the best attackers in Pokemon Go and soon, you can challenge it in Raid battles lasting more than two weeks. To beat it, you must be well-prepared with a strong team that can make quick work of this starter.
To help you choose the best Pokemon to defeat Mega Swampert Raids, here are the recommended counters, alongside details on its shiny chances and moveset.
Best counters
- Mega Sceptile – Bullet Seed and Frenzy Plant
- Kartana – Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade
- Sky Forme Shaymin – Magical Leaf and Grass Knot
- Mega Venusaur – Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant
- Zarude – Vine Whip and Power Whip
Since the best counters are either Mythicals, Ultra Beasts, or Legendaries which may be difficult to power up, you can also use other good counters such as Torterra, Roserade, Meowscarada, Chesnaught, and Decidueye.
Note that most of them need the move Frenzy Plant, which was added to their movepool during Community Day events. If you don’t have Elite Charged TMs to use on your counters, you can still go ahead with them as long as they have complete Grass-type moveset.
How to get Mega Swampert
You can get Mega Swampert by catching its regular form after the Raid Battle and then using 200 Mega Energy. These Raids will run from July 8, 2024, until July 23, 2024.
By taking part in these battles, you can collect the required Mega Energy easily.
Weaknesses
Mega Swampert is only weak to Grass-type attacks and it is a double weakness. So, by using high-level counters, you can beat it without much effort.
Remember that Grass-type moves are boosted in Sunny/Clear in-game weather, allowing you to possibly solo this Mega Raid. That said, if Mega Swampert has the Poison-type Charged Move Sludge Wave, which is super-effective against these counters, be sure to dodge in the battle.
Moveset
Fast Moves
Charged Moves
- Surf (Water)
- Hydro Cannon* (Water)
- Muddy Water (Water)
- Earthquake (Ground)
- Sludge Wave (Poison)
Hydro Cannon can only be taught to Mega Swampert with an Elite Charged TM. This is its strongest move, making it a top-notch Raid counter. Even its regular form is a huge threat in all three Go Battle League formats, so unlocking Hydro Cannon is worth it.
Can Mega Swampert be shiny?
Yes, shiny Mega Swampert is available.
The odds of encountering shiny Swampert from its Mega Raid is 1 in 64 or 1.56% chance. That’s not all as shinies from these Raids are a guaranteed catch, so get ready to shiny hunt for it.
