How to beat Sandy Shocks Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Best counters
The best counters to beat Sandy Shocks Tera Raids are Gliscor and Meowscarada. Pokemon Scarlet players will face a level 75 Raid Boss with a random Tera Type during its 5-Star Tera Raid Battle event.
Sandy Shocks is an Electric/Ground-type Paradox Pokemon and it has any four of the following moves during the Raid:
- Discharge (Electric)
- Eerie Impulse (Electric)
- Flash Cannon (Steel)
- Earth Power (Ground)
- Sunny Day (Fire)
- Gravity (Psychic)
Best Gliscor strategy
The Ground/Flying-type Gliscor is a potent counter to Sandy Shocks, shrugging away its strongest attacks while also inflicting super-effective damage with the powerful Earthquake. Due to these immunities, Gliscor can freely use Swords Dance and boost its 95 Attack stat by two stages, making Earthquake deadlier.
Roost helps it recover from damage taken by any coverage moves while its ability, Poison Heal, syncs flawlessly with the Held Item Toxic Orb to regain HP each turn. If all this wasn’t remarkable already, add Toxic to poison Sandy Shocks, making it lose health at every turn.
Best Meowscarada strategy
With an impressive 110 Attack stat and the powerful signature attack, Flower Trick, Meowscarada can dish out incredible damage to Sandy Shocks while also resisting its Electric and Ground-type moves stress-free.
Even with different Tera Types on the Raid Boss, rest assured that Meowscarada gets wide coverage as well as STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) on the first move it uses on switching into the battlefield, thanks to its Protean ability.
How to beat Iron Thorns Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Best counters
The best counters to beat Iron Thorns Tera Raids are Garchomp and Swampert. Pokemon Violet players will face a level 75 Raid Boss with a random Tera Type during its 5-Star Tera Raid Battle event.
Iron Thorns is an Electric/Rock-type Paradox Pokemon that has any four of the following movies during the Raid:
- Supercell Slam (Electric)
- Electric Terrain (Electric)
- Stone Edge (Rock)
- Pin Missile (Bug)
- Earthquake (Ground)
- Curse (Ghost)
Best Garchomp strategy
Boasting a phenomenal 130 Attack stat, the Pseudo Legendary Garchomp can make quick work of Iron Thorns with Earthquake, especially after a Swords Dance boost.
Aside from being great on offense, Garchomp has tremendous bulk, letting it tank the strongest Rock-type attacks of Iron Thorns and take zero damage from any Electric-type moves, courtesy of its immunity.
But keep in mind that Iron Thorns learns several Dragon and Ice-type moves that can trouble Garchomp, especially due to the Raid Boss’ 134 Attack stat.
Best Swampert strategy
Swampert is one of the best starters in the Pokemon franchise, owing to its incredibly viable Water/Ground type combination. With Iron Thorns being 4x weak to Ground-type moves, Swampert can wreak havoc with a powerful Earthquake from its 110 Attack stat.
Like Garchomp, Swampert is also immune to Electric-type moves and resists damage from Rock-type moves. That said, it doesn’t have to worry about any super-effective damage from Iron Thorns’ moveset.
