How to evolve Burmy into Mothim in Pokemon Go
To get Mothim, players need to evolve a male Burmy by spending 50 Candy. You can check Burmy’s gender by looking for the symbol right next to its name and HP bar. The male symbol is the one with the arrow pointing upward.
Male Burmy are rarer than females, so you might have to catch a few of them before getting the one you want. Remember to use Pinap or Silver Pinap berries to earn more Candy when you catch them.
How to evolve Burmy into Wormadam in Pokemon Go
If you want to complete your Pokedex with both of Burmy’s evolutions, you’ll need to evolve a female Burmy with 50 Candy to get Wormadam. The female symbol is the one with the cross/arrow pointing downward.
While every male Burmy evolves into Mothim without any visual distinctions, female Burmy will keep their cloak when evolving. That way, Wormadam gets a secondary typing based on the cloak, with the following results:
- Plant Cloak Wormadam – Bug and Grass-type
- Sandy Cloak Wormadam – Bug and Ground-type
- Trash Cloak Wormadam – Bug and Steel-type
To know what Cloak your Burmy has, you have to check their color: Plant Cloak is green, Sandy Cloak is beige, and Trash Cloak is pink. Each form is usually limited to a particular area, but Burmy might appear more frequently in all areas during events.
Can Burmy and Mothim be shiny in Pokemon Go?
Luckily for shiny collectors, Burmy can be shiny in Pokemon Go, which means that players can also get a shiny Mothim by evolving it. Of course, they are hard to find, but events like the Festival of Colors increase the spawn rate so be on the lookout.
