Pokemon Go introduced players to Gen 6 Pokemon Scatterbug in 2022 alongside new features related to its final evolution, Vivillon. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet later introduced connectivity features to allow players to expand their Vivillon collection with almost every possible pattern.

Here’s how to complete your Vivillon collection in Pokemon Go and Scarlet & Violet, alongside the full list of patterns and real-world locations.

How to get different Vivillon patterns in Pokemon Go

Getting different Vivillon patterns in Pokemon Go is not an easy task, but we’ll go through everything you need to do to complete your collection:

• Collect Postcards you received from Gifts, PokeStops, or Gyms.
• Pin them to your Postcard Book. You can access it via your in-game profile.
• That will unlock the Vivillon Collector medal and add progress to sub-medals associated with the Postcard’s region of origin
• You can check your collection progress by tapping the Vivillon Collector Medal on your profile page.
• Once you pin three postcards from the same region, you’ll encounter a Scatterbug.
• You’ll need 25 Candy to evolve Scatterbug into Spewpa, and 100 to evolve Spewpa into Vivillon.

After completing a sub-medal, Trainers can continue to make progress toward that sub-medal to earn additional encounters with Scatterbug. The number of Postcards required to raise the sub-medal rank increases with each rank.

As we mentioned, completing this collection is no easy task, so we recommend setting Scatterbug as your Buddy to earn Scatterbug Candy faster.

Since most players will only get one pattern from their regions, pinning Postcards from friends in different parts of the world is the key to completing the Vivillon Collection Medal.

How to get different Vivillon patterns in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can now connect their games to Pokemon Home to get their entire Vivillon collection. To do so, you have to send your Vivillon from Pokemon Go to Home, and then transfer them to Scarlet and Violet following our guide. You can also send Scatterbug from Go to Home to train it and evolve it directly in Scarlet and Violet.

Alternatively, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can connect their Pokemon Go account to their Nintendo Switch to get new Vivillon patterns. You can check our step-by-step guide on how to do that. Once both games are synced, you can encounter different Vivillon patterns in their usual spawn spots by following these steps:

1. Tap on your profile in Pokemon Go.
2. Tap ‘Postcard Book’.
3. Select any postcard (you need to have at least one pinned postcard).
4. Tap the icon with three bars and select ‘Send to Nintendo Switch’.
5. Tap ‘Send,’ then ‘Yes,’ then ‘Ok’.
6. The gift will open automatically in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Once you do that, new Vivillon will start to appear in Paldea in their usual spawn locations. The real-world location data from the postcards will determine what pattern will appear in the game.

24 hours after you send your postcard, Vivillon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will appear with the usual Fancy pattern again. This pattern isn’t available in Pokemon Go yet, but it might be later on.
