How to get Eelektross in Pokemon Go
NianticEelektross is a rare species in Pokemon Go that gained immense popularity among fans from its prominent presence in the Gen 5 games and now, you must be raring to use it in the Go Battle League (GBL) and Raids.
If you’re wondering how to get this Electric-type Pokemon, here are all the details, including its evolution from Tynamo, recommended moves for PvP and PvE, and shiny availability.
How to evolve Tynamo into Eelektross
You can evolve Tynamo into Eelektrik with 25 Candy, and then into Eelektross with 100 Candy as well as a Unova Stone.
Eelektross is one of the few Gen 5 additions that need a Unova Stone for evolution in Pokemon Go. Here’s how to get it:
- Opening the Research Breakthrough Box after completing Field Research tasks for seven days. Note that you don’t have to register these tasks seven days a row.
- By beating any of the three Team Leaders – Blanche, Candela, or Spark.
You are not guaranteed to get the Unova Stone by either of these methods, so you should try them multiple times to get lucky.
Best PvP moves
The best PvP moveset for Eelektross currently is Spark with Dragon Claw and Thunderbolt.
Spark offers decent energy gains that help this Pokemon use the extremely resourceful Dragon Claw quickly, baiting shields and even threatening the ever-present Dragon types in the Great and Ultra League.
Eelektross isn’t too bulky, so make sure to take advantage of several Dragon Claw attacks to eliminate the opponent’s shields and not to tank hits. Also, its stats aren’t good enough to make a mark in the Master League.
Thunderbolt gains STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) and is its go-to move to KO its targets with its impressive 90 damage output. It’s better to use this Charged Move when the opponent’s shields are down.
During the Tynamo Community Day on July 21, 2024, Eelektross will get the Fast Move Volt Switch in its movepool, giving it a better attack to use. With quicker energy gains, Eelektross’ utility in the GBL will increase, helping it spam Dragon Claw with more aggression. That said, it won’t be a meta-shaking addition.
Best PvE moves
The best PvE moveset for Eelektross is Spark with Thunderbolt.
With 217 Attack stat, it can certainly do some work as a counter to Flying and Water-type Raid Bosses. But, you have far better options to use, including Zekrom, Zapdos, and Raikou, as well as several powerful Mega Evolutions.

Before the Tynamo Community Day, you can enjoy the Pokemon Go Fest 2024 event to grab many new shinies debuting during the grand spectacle.
