Pokemon Go devs deleting Gyms could make you lose Pokemon
Niantic/The Pokemon CompanyPokemon Go added tons of features since launch, giving players lots to do while exploring their surroundings and catching Pokemon. However, not all the game’s parts always work as intended, and some issues can be devastating for trainers.
Players have been asking for a rework of the Gym system but, instead, they’re experiencing bugs that leave their Pokemon in a strange limbo.
Reddit user ‘Colvian’ posted, “I’m pretty sure I lost my 4 star Lapras to a deleted gym” and showed their Lapras surrounded by bugged text in the game. Other players recommended contacting Niantic’s Support to solve the issue, although reaching them can be difficult.
While some trainers believe this is a rare issue, others revealed this is happening more often.
Reddit user ‘ghostdumpsters’ stated, “I sometimes see this right after my Pokemon has been knocked out of the gym, but it goes back to normal shortly after.” Others added they had to wait between 12 and 24 hours to get their Pokemon back safe and sound.
Some trainers thanked the OP for sharing this issue, saying, “This has not happened to me yet, but since you posted this recently – I will not freak out if it does.”
However, some players commented on the post, trying to find a solution to their similar problems, saying, “I have a Chansey trapped in a nonexistent gym from the last Go Fest Madrid (apparently one that was made for the event).”
Another player replied to that comment with the same issue. Pokemon Go Fest 2024: Madrid took place between June 14 and June 16.
With rumors about Dynamax and Gigantamax features coming to Pokemon Go, Gyms might get a refresh soon. Either way, make sure to check the Raid schedule to face and catch the most powerful Legendaries and Ultra Beasts.
