Pokemon Go received the New Year with an event, but Niantic is already thinking ahead and announced what’s coming next for trainers. The Lustrous Odyssey event will mark the official debut of Dusk Form Lycanroc in the mobile game, and players are excited to know more about this fan-favorite Pokemon.

Pokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey event dates
The Pokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey event will take place from Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10 AM (local time) to Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 8 PM (local time).
The Rowlet Community Day will also take place on Saturday, January 6, so Pokemon Go players have a lot to look forward to.
The Pokemon CompanyPokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey debut & wild encounters
Dusk Form Lycanroc will finally get its Pokemon Go debut during the Lustrous Odyssey event alongside its shiny version. This means that starting with this event, “some Rockruff that trainers hatch or encounter will be able to evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc instead of Midday Form or Midnight Form Lycanroc,” according to the official announcement.
Additionally, the following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild:
- Gastly
- Eevee
- Spinarak
- Sunkern
- Teddiursa
- Lunatone
- Solrock
- Yungoos
- Fomantis
- Morelull
- Espeon
- Umbreon
All Pokemon listed above can be encountered as shiny in Pokemon Go, so be on the lookout.
Pokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey event Raids
The following Pokemon will headline Pokemon Go Raids during the Lustrous Odyssey event:
1-Star Raids
- Hisuian Growlithe
- Rhyhorn
- Hisuian Sneasel
- Rockruff
3-Star Raids
- Lapras
- Aerodactyl
- Hisuian Braviary
- Wyrdeer
All these Raid bosses can be shiny in Pokemon Go. Remember that shiny Pokemon you encounter after beating them in Raids are a guaranteed catch, so you don’t need to spend your Razz or Golden Razz Berries.
On the other hand, Pokemon Go players will also be able to hatch Rockruff from 2km and 7km Eggs during the event.
Pokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey Field & Special Research
Pokemon Go players who spin PokeStops during the Lustrous Odyssey event will get themed Field Research tasks. Completing them will reward players with encounters with Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Sneasel, and Rockruff.
Additionally, part two of the Timeless Travels Special Research will launch at the start of this event. Trainers will be able to complete the new tasks to earn items, XP, Stardust, and an encounter with Rockruff.
Pokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey event bonuses
The Pokemon Go Lustrous Odyssey event will have the following bonuses:
- Increased frequency of Buddy Pokemon bringing you Souvenirs.
- Increased frequency of Buddy Pokemon bringing you presents.
- Your buddy will spend more time on the map after being fed Berries or Poffins.
- Rockruff hatched from Eggs received as Adventure Sync rewards during Pokemon Go: Timeless Travels may have a chance to evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc.
