After the London and Osaka in-game events, New York City players are ready to celebrate Pokemon Go Fest 2023. Ticket-holders will enjoy many benefits while exploring the city and its parks, but Pokemon Go trainers all around the world will also get the opportunity to catch sought-after creatures as well.
The Noxious Swamp event features some of the Pokemon that will roam the streets of New York, so here’s everything you need to know about the event, including dates, shiny debuts, and Shadow Raids.

Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event dates
The Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event will take place from Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10 AM to Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 8 PM (local time).
Pokemon Go Fest 2023 will take place in New York City from August 18 to August 20, so global players will get a little taste of the experience through this event.
Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event wild encounters
The Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event will highlight some of the Poison-type and Dragon-type Pokemon that will appear in Pokemon Go Fest: New York City. The following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild:
- Zubat
- Venonat
- Tentacool
- Dratini
- Surskit
- Gulpin
- Skorupi
- Axew
- Skrelp
- Tyrunt
- Noibat
Shiny Skrelp is debuting in Pokemon Go with the Noxious Swamp event, meaning all Pokemon on the list can appear as shiny during the event.

The Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event will feature special Raids alongside new limited-time Shadow Raids. Here’s the full list of Raid bosses for the Noxious Swamp event:

- Galarian Weezing
- Druddigon
- Turtonator
1-Star Raids
- Grimer
- Alolan Grimer
- Hisuian Qwilfish
- Hisuian Sneasel
Shadow Raids
- Shadow Nidoran (3-Star)
- Shadow Onix (3-Star)
- Shadow Sneasel (3-Star)
- Shadow Zubat (1-Star)
- Shadow Houndour (1-Star)
- Shadow Pidove (1-Star)
Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event Field & Timed Research
Pokemon Go players will be able to tackle themed Field Research tasks alongside a free Timed Research during the Noxious Swamp event.
Trainers that spin PokeStops during the Noxious Swamp event will get Field Research tasks they can complete to encounter Grimer, Dratini, Trapinch, Skrelp, Noibat, or Mareanie. Lucky trainers might encounter them in shiny form, except for Mareanie.
On the other hand, the free Timed Research will give trainers tasks focused on raiding for encounters with Poison and Dragon-type Pokemon, including Jangmo-o. Players interested in the rewards must complete all tasks before Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 8 PM (local time).
Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event bonuses
These bonuses will be active during the Pokemon Go Noxious Swamp event:
- 2x Catch Candy.
- Team GO Rocket balloons appear more frequently.
- One additional free Raid Pass per day from spinning Gym Photo Discs.
