Pokemon Go player bags shiny Charizard from most unlikely place in Horizons event
NianticA popular feature in the Pokemon Go Horizons event led to an unlikely encounter with a shiny Charizard for a lucky player, leaving everyone in disbelief.
Now and then, Pokemon Go adds a fan-favorite feature in certain events, which lets you encounter a featured Pokemon after it photobombs your in-game pictures.
Often found in Community Days and Go Fest, you can also find photobombs during the Horizons event, which celebrates the ongoing anime series with characters like Liko, Roy, and Friede alongside their signature Pokemon.
Getting these characters in your photobombs will lead to encounters with the Paldean starters and on some occasions, the iconic Charizard. But nothing prepared Reddit user ‘Pamela26Anne’ for the surprise of a lifetime when they got a shiny Charizard after Friede photobombed their snap.
Never expecting a shiny, the OP wrote, “Photobomb SERIES led to this?!” as others were equally shocked at the incredible catch.
A user mentioned that they were jealous and lauded the OP’s luck. Others were surprised that the OP even got a Charizard, let alone a shiny, as they were getting Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Captain Pikachu.
This prompted a player to comment: “The new Horizons event going on right now. 5 random Pokemon spawns from snapshots a day. It’s a small pool of mons.”
The event kicked off on March 5, 2024, and will run until March 11, 2024, at 8 PM local time, Pokemon Go trainers can have up to five photobomb encounters each day with the featured species from the anime.
But it appears that most players are getting the Paldean starters, with Captain Pikachu and Charizard being rarer, and it looks like you have more to look forward to than the possibility of a shiny Charizard.
“I immediately did mine and it got me a shiny Pikachu!” a player chimed in. You should note that Sprigatito and Fuecoco encounters cannot be shiny.
