Some Pokemon Go players are still trying to get their hands on a Dusk Form Lycanroc by catching a Dusk Rockruff, but they are struggling to do so. A player has a theory on why Dusk Form Lycanroc is so rare.

For Pokemon Go players, catching the rarest and strongest Pokemon is part of the fun of the game, and lately, one of said rare species seems to be eluding the player base. So, it is no surprise that many displeased trainers have flocked to slam Niantic for their implementation of Dusk Form Lycanroc.

But now, a Pokemon Go player has come up with a plausible theory on why Dusk Form Lycanroc is so rare in the game, and the community has divided opinions about it.

Reddit user ‘nvdnqvi’ went to the Pokemon Go subreddit and stated: “Clearing up confusion around Rockruff and dispelling unreasonable gripes about Dusk form.”

The OP also explained that this was intended to make Pokemon Go more accurate/faithful to the core game mechanics.

One of the trainers commenting on the post said: “I’m honestly surprised they implemented Own Tempo Rockruff the way they did, be it for good or bad. Given their precedence with alternate form Pokémon and evolutions, I figured they would lock Dusk Lycanroc to a raid only.”

On the other hand, a displeased Pokemon player answered: “At least that’s somewhat guaranteed, it being not only random but a low chance is messed up, there’s no reason to not have it evolve like the others”

Meanwhile, Reddit user ‘melvinmetal’ explained why the players are so angry with Niantic: “I don’t think people have as much of an issue of Niantic being faithful to game mechanics, but rather the issue comes from it seeming like Niantic only cares about being faithful to game mechanics if it hurts the player and/or benefits them in some way. ”

This trainer also mentioned the cases of Deoxys, Giratina, and the “genies” – Tornadus, Landorus, Thundurus -, and their inability to change forms. Then expressed:

“These all go against main series mechanics, yet are present in GO at an inconvenience to the player, or of some benefit to Niantic. That’s why people are upset, because, in addition to Niantic’s incredibly obvious penny-pinching tactics, they’ve made it clear they have no interest in certain faithful main series mechanics that would be of benefit to the player.”
