Getting all shiny versions of the Eeveelutions is a difficult job in Pokemon Go but a player has shared an innovative use of the popular Eevee name trick to get guaranteed shinies of three different species from shiny Eevee.

In their quest to catch ’em all in Pokemon Go, fans try to get the rarest species in the mobile game. But this is easier said than done as they need to catch Legendaries, various evolutions, as well as the elusive shiny Pokemon.

When it comes to registering both evolved forms and their shinies in the Pokedex, the Eeveelutions (evolutions of Eevee) take the honor of being the toughest to complete. With eight different evolutions of Eevee, getting all their shinies registered is a nightmare even though shiny Eevee is relatively common in the game.

However, a Pokemon Go player has revealed a clever way to get guaranteed shinies of the three most difficult shiny Eeveelutions from the bunch: Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon.

Genius Pokemon Go trick to guarantee shiny Vaporeon, Jolteon, & Falreon from shiny Eevee

In a post shared by Pokemon Go player ‘inkspiration1’ on Reddit, the user mentioned an ingenious way to use the Eevee naming trick and get shiny versions of Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon in the game.

The post reads: “Only Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon are completely random. But it is only 3, just evolve some Eevees until you have one of each (but only when you reached the level requirement). Wasting the name trick on them just because they are random would be stupid, trust me.”

The OP urged players to not use the naming trick for the level 41 task ‘Evolve Eevee into each of its unique Evolutions’ and instead, leave the naming trick for their shiny Eevee.

By following this trick on shiny Eevee, you can ensure that you get the shiny versions of Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Eevee is a very easy Pokemon to catch as it is available in the wild, in Eggs, as well as the rewards of various Field and Special Research tasks.

For those unaware, players can give unique names to Eevee and ensure that they get the Eeveelution they want. These names include:

  • Rainer (for Vaporeon)
  • Sparky (for Jolteon)
  • Pyro (for Flareon)
  • Tamao (for Umbreon)
  • Sakura (for Espeon)
  • Rea (for Glaceon)
  • Linnea (for Leafeon)
  • Kira (for Sylveon)

However, this is a one-time trick and players use it only once for each Eeveelution. That said, the game gives you more opportunities to guarantee five of the eight Eeveelutions even after you have previously evolved them by using the name trick.

These five guaranteed ways to get the required Eeveelutions are:

  • Umbreon: Make it your Buddy and evolve it during the night.
  • Espeon: Make it your Buddy and evolve it during the day.
  • Glaceon: Spin a Glacial Lure
  • Leafeon: Spin a Mossy Lure
  • Sylveon: Make it your Buddy and earn 70 Hearts with it.

But once you have used the name trick for getting Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon, future evolutions will be random. Due to this, those who have already used the name trick previously to get these three in their Pokedex would now get any of them randomly when they evolve their shiny Eevee. The trick suggested by the OP solves this problem.

Another comment advised players to keep an eye on the silhouette of the Eeveelution before hitting the ‘Evolve’ button to know which Eeveelution they will get.

The user wrote, “When you go to evolve, the question mark turns to a silhouette of the Eeveelution you will get. If it still shows a question mark, it will be random, so you have to keep walking.”

While many may have ‘wasted’ the name trick on a regular Eevee, new players and those without all Eeveelutions registered in their Pokedex would definitely find this trick very useful.
