PvP players in Pokemon Go get recommendations from the game on the species to use in their Go Battle League (GBL) matches but many fans have outright stated that “the system literally just doesn’t work.”

Aside from battling Raids, adding new Pokemon to the Pokedex, and collecting shinies, Pokemon Go players grind the Go Battle League, participating in intense PvP battles with the strongest species.

One of the biggest challenges in PvP is to build teams that can ensure more wins and better rewards in the GBL, but fans are trolling the team prompts before the battle, as it has left many scratching their heads.

After Reddit user ‘Ok-Travel2350’ wrote: “Why does PoGo recommend the lower CP Rhyperior for PvP battles?” in a post showing the team pushed by the game for a GBL bout and screengrabs of Rhyperior’s moveset, several fellow trainers expressed their frustrations in the comments section.

Right off the bat, users tried to make sense of the team suggestions by Pokemon Go, with many explaining that the lower CP Rhyperior might have a better moveset for PvP.

But to the surprise of many, the Rhyperior with an inferior PvP moveset was given priority, leading to comments like: “I don’t know why people are trying to rationalize this, the system literally just doesn’t work” and “There’s plenty of examples of strictly worse Pokemon being recommended.”

Another remarked that “the system is stupid and dumb,” before a player added: “I wish we could turn this off, it’s so pointless and annoying.”

If the preference towards a lower CP Pokemon wasn’t strange enough already, a trainer highlighted their experience with a Gyarados.

“Why does PoGo keep recommending my Nundo (zero IV) Gyarados when it has the same moves as my Hundo (100 IV) Gyarados which has a second charged move that the Nundo?” the player wrote.

It looks like trainers are better off picking their own teams with their best species instead of relying on the team suggested by Pokemon Go.
