Pokemon Go players demand Niantic change “dumb” solo Raid feature
NianticEven though Pokemon Go devs Niantic included the Ready button in Raid lobbies, many feel that the feature is “silly” for the large number of players who like to do solo Raid Battles in the game. Now, they are calling for a change in the rules laid out by Niantic.
Since the introduction of Pokemon Raid Battles in 2017, the Pokemon Go community has wanted Niantic to introduce a ‘Ready’ button in the Raid lobbies.
Anyone entering a Raid Gym has to wait anywhere between 30 to 110 seconds till the battle begins, leading to a lot of frustration among fans of the mobile game.
While everyone’s patience seemed to get rewarded when Niantic finally introduced the much-awaited Raid update just before Pokemon Go Fest 2023, it came with a catch that lets you use the Ready button only when there are multiple participants in the lobby.
As a majority of players take part in solo Raids to get in-game tasks done and level up, they are now unhappy with how the current Ready button feature works in Pokemon Go Raids.
Pokemon Go solo Raid players call the Ready button “useless”
User ‘Fmr878’ wrote: “Why would this ever be a thing” in a Reddit post and slammed the Ready button feature in Pokemon Go Raid lobbies, arguing it totally defeats the purpose for those who do solo Raids in the game.
The post prompted several other users to join the comment section and express similar opinions on the feature, calling it the “most useless feature yet” and lashing out at Niantic for their “bad gaming choices.”
One user wrote, “Niantic should give the option for solo players to skip the countdown in 1-Star Raids” while another added, “The ability to skip the wait should be allowed all the way to 3-Star Raids and Mega Raids.”
Another player added, “It’s so dumb, makes doing these solo raids longer than it needs to be…anything 1-2 star should allow you to solo instantly without waiting.”
Additionally, one of the comments highlighted that those in rural areas would find it hard to get another person to do the Raid.
I lived in a village with 400 people. Only one time in my 5 years living there did someone else ever join a Raid and it was Pokemon Go Fest.”
Ironically enough, it seems that even big city dwellers have a difficult time getting multiple participants in the Raid as one user mentioned, “I live in London and there have never been hordes of players ready to jump into raids.”
While Raids can get frustrating in Pokemon Go, you can meanwhile check out the Spotlight Hour events as well as the Community Day of this month.
