The Pokemon Go community isn’t too happy with the current state of PokeStop Showcases, as they call for changes that can give the fan-favorite feature “more purpose” in the mobile game.

PokeStop Showcases have been one of the most popular additions to Pokemon Go in 2023 and the feature is available during every major event.

As per the rules of Showcases, the feature allows you to enter a specific Pokemon in select PokeStops and it is then compared to other species entered in the same PokeStop based on some parameter.

All Pokemon Go Showcases to date have always compared the PokeStop participants in terms of their size/weight, and now, fans appear to be tired of this repetitive parameter in every event.

Pokemon Go fans slam “half-baked” effort to utilize “boring” PokeStop Showcases

When Reddit user ‘yabucek’ made a post about being disappointed with current PokeStop Showcases in Pokemon Go and wrote, “Why the hell are Showcases so underutilized,” several players agreed with the OP as they also vented their opinions.

The OP highlighted how “they’re always just the biggest size. The concept is cool, but it’s like they’ve just implemented it and completely abandoned the feature the second they got it working and now it’s just automatically grabbing a featured Pokemon every event.”

A user mentioned that they “like the idea of the Showcases, but why just on size?” while another added that they are “waiting for a Showcase on small sizes” rather than the current focus on big sizes of Pokemon.

After Niantic was unable to host the promised Pumpkaboo Showcases and replaced it with Smoliv, several fans were unhappy and declared that “Niantic doesn’t care.”

Comments included: “Niantic doesn’t even know how to program ‘biggest stats’ properly, as we found out from the canceled Pumpkaboo Showcase” and “Niantic refuses to put effort into anything.”

One user also called the feature “one of Niantic’s half-baked gimmicks,” clearly reflecting how frustrated the community has been with Showcases as some even called it a “boring mechanic.”

Coming to the desired updates, players want to see new PokeStop Showcase parameters such as “small sizes, IVs, oldest caught Pokemon, most wins, etc.”

It remains to be seen if and when Niantic brings these desired changes to PokeStop Showcases as Pokemon Go players are upset with the lack of variety as well as errors in the feature.
