Pokemon Go players demand trainers keep Black & White Kyurem after Niantic’s GBL “mistake”
NianticAfter a few Pokemon Go trainers caught the unreleased Black and White Kyurem as GBL rewards, they went on to level it up with their in-game resources, with some even maxing it out. Now, Niantic has removed them from the trainers’ collection and the community is enraged with the devs.
The Go Battle League (GBL) in Pokemon Go lets players get Legendary species as encounters once they achieve Rank 20 in the competitive PvP format.
While these encounters are meant to be the Legendary Pokemon currently active in Raids, fans were in for a pleasant surprise as they were able to catch the unreleased Black and White Kyurem, two of the most overpowered species in the game.
With such powerful Pokemon in their teams, the lucky players naturally went on to power them up using huge amounts of Stardust and Rare Candy XL, the latter being an extremely rare asset in the mobile game.
However, they were in for a rude awakening as Niantic acknowledged the bug but removed Black and Kyurem from the game altogether, offering compensation to those affected.
Now, the entire Pokemon Go community is disappointed with this, as everyone slammed the compensation and demanded Niantic to not remove the Legendaries from those who caught them.
After Niantic Support made an official post on the X app (formerly Twitter) about removing Black and White Kyurem from Pokemon Go and compensating those who caught them, the community didn’t hide their displeasure with the ‘token of apology.’
A large number of Pokemon Go fans joined the comments section and mentioned how Niantic should have ideally handled the mistake.
The world’s first level 50 player, FleeceKing, wrote: “If your company has made a mistake, and that mistake happens to benefit some players, those players should still be able to keep their Black and White Kyurem.”
Several users agreed with FleeceKing with comments such as: “Shouldn’t be reverted, your mistake,” and “Just ban the two from GBL. Don’t remove it from a person’s account cause of YOUR mess up.”
Ironically, one of the trainers who had caught a White Kyurem and found it missing from their game chimed in with: “Where is my W-Kyurem?” to which a player stated: “This person maxed one and it got taken away.”
Another trainer who had one of the Legendaries shared the compensation that included the following:
- 250x Kyurem Candy
- 5x Star Pieces
- 5x Lucky Eggs
- 250000 Stardust
These are a far cry from what the affected trainers would have spent in maxing out Black or White Kyurem, as everyone appeared to be disappointed with the underwhelming compensation.
