A new Avatar feature is being rolled out for some Pokemon Go users, and trainers are loving it. Apparently, it is being treated as a “silent update” and some players are showcasing the results.

For Pokemon Go players, new features often come associated with big updates, such as the ones we had during the past season. But so far, in World of Wonders there hasn’t been too much talk about new gimmicks being added to this Pokemon game.

However, a group of players has noticed that a new Avatar customization feature has been rolled out for some of them as a silent update and allows them to change the visuals of their trainers on the go.

Reddit user ‘markthree’ shared a picture of the new avatar UI, and also stated that this feature would not be available for all Pokemon Go players “yet,” and only a few selected had a chance to try this out.

Other players also confirmed that this is another “silent update,” test to try the new feature’s real time experience on active players. Many of the people commenting on the OP’s post stated that they were optimistic about this new avatar customization feature, while those who already had a chance to try it are praising the new system as “user friendly,” and “intuitive.”

Other Pokemon Go trainers have shared some details regarding what you can do with the new feature, which apparently, would allow you to change backgrounds: “East US here, can only change hair color, eye color, and skin color so far. Hope we get hairstyles soon. We still don’t have the new backgrounds afaik,” stated a Pokemon Go player.

Seems like a step forward in the right direction for Niantic’s mobile title, and trainers are appreciating the dev’s idea. Still, as this is not an official release yet, but a stress test, you should take the opinion of players and the information released with a pinch of salt.

We will keep you posted if more information is officially released. In the meantime, you can check the latest news about Pokemon Go right here, like the Spotlight Hour Schedule, or the Upcoming Primal Kyogre and Groudon Raids.
