Reaching level 50 in Pokemon Go is the ultimate goal of almost every player, and they look forward to taking the iconic screenshot when prompted with the achievement. But the game played spoilsport for a trainer who just reached level 50, leaving fans in hysterics.

Pokemon Go offers a long and tedious grind to its players, with level 50 being the highest stage to reach in the mobile game. Fans spend day and night catching all the available Pokemon, beating Raids, completing Research tasks, and participating in the Go Battle League to get the job done.

When they finally get to their goal, players get numerous rewards and also the well-earned ‘level 50’ prompt to celebrate the feat. But a trainer who had just nailed the achievement got their moment overshadowed by an unexpected occurrence that others couldn’t help but find hilarious.

The trainer, named ‘ZillieZephyr’ on Reddit, shared a post that showed their level 50 prompt on the Pokemon Go screen. However, the OP had received a Purified Gem just at the said moment, and the item ended up being displayed over the level 50 prompt.

“Purified gem notification kind’ve ruined my level 50 achievement,” the OP captioned the post, as they received comments from several amused players.

Users commented: “This is hilarious but also I would be irrationally frustrated by this lol” and “I’d argue this is epic. You got the super extra special level 50 Gem.”

When a player chimed in with, “For what it’s worth, this absolutely cracked me up. Good stuff,” the OP replied: “Believe me I was cackling when it happened.”

It appears that another trainer had a similar experience, although with a Master Ball. “Classic Niantic thing. Mine happened when I got my first Master Ball. The game froze and when I restarted it, the Master Ball was already in my bag and I couldn’t see the animation again,” they stated.

Funnily enough, fans say that they are no longer “surprised” by such instances in Pokemon Go, as one put it, “Not surprised even in the slightest. At this point it’s comedic.”

On a side note, a few people mentioned that a level 50 trainer should get better rewards. “They should give trainers who reach level 50 way more XL candy. 2 is a slap in the face for this achievement IMO,” a user wrote before another added: “Giving lucky eggs at 50 is a slap in the face.”
