Pokemon Go players praise trainer’s huge win with “best use” of Master Ball
The Pokemon CompanyTo use or not to use the Master Ball is a common debate among Pokemon Go fans, but a trainer’s quick thinking with the rare and elusive Poke Ball has been lauded by the community, even though it wasn’t used on a Galarian Bird.
The Master Ball is undoubtedly one of the most prized assets in Pokemon Go as it lets players get a 100% catch rate on any Pokemon, be it Legendaries, shinies, or the rarest species in the game.
With this item being so valuable, fans can only get two Master Balls currently, and that too after completing grueling tasks.
So while the Galarian Bird trio seems to be the go-to Pokemon to catch with the Master Ball due to their ridiculously low catch rate of 0.3%, a player’s decision to use the rare Poke Ball on a different species has been widely appreciated by fellow trainers.
Reddit user ‘m8utty’ shared a post that showed a 100 IV Rayquaza caught with a Master Ball during the Pokemon Go Fest 2023 event in London as they asked, “W or L ball usage?”
The player provided more context by adding, “A friend said I was stupid for using Master Ball on this as they are ‘easy’ to get. Bear in mind this was at Go Fest London where you only got like 6 balls max.”
The OP also mentioned in the comments that they were left with just one Premier Ball to catch the Hundo (100 IV) Rayquaza and they went ahead with a Master Ball to guarantee the capture. This earned the OP a lot of praise from users, as they called it a “W (win).”
A user wrote: “If you know it’s a Hundo, especially for a good Pokémon like this one, always use it.” As others chimed in with similar comments, some claimed that it was the “best use of a Master Ball” and added: “I think using it on a sh*tty IV Galar Bird is a true waste.”
This prompted more users to pour in with the same opinion, as they felt that using the Master Ball on a 100 IV Rayquaza is always better than a random IV Galarian Bird.
“I personally haven’t understood using them on the Galar birds when 1) IVs are still random and unknown and 2) none of them are really meta. All they are is rare and we know eventually everything becomes less rare in this game,” a player explained.
All species in Pokemon Go eventually have their shiny versions released and people could very well regret using their Master Balls on non-shiny Galarian Birds once their shinies are available. Even then, using this Ball on a 100 IV powerful Legendary is definitely not a bad decision.
