Pokemon Go players roast Niantic after Spotlight Hour unplayable due to server maintenance

The Pokemon Go player community is not happy at all, after waiting long periods of time to log in during July 18’s Rhyhorn Spotlight Hour on July 18. Eventually, they just gave up, calling it “a waste of time.”

Pokemon Go players started roasting Niantic after most of them were unable to log in to enjoy July 18’s Ryhorn Spotlight Hour. Due to a miscalculation, there was planned maintenance scheduled at the same time. This made it impossible for most players to enjoy that “grindy time” catching Pokemon.

To make matters worse, on July 18, Pokemon Go officially apologized for the issues that occurred during the previous Community Day Classic for Squirtle. They announced a makeup event following a cascade of complaints from the angry players, who are already at their wit’s end.

The Pokemon Go community was shocked that these mistakes keep popping up and one player stated: “We shall call it Niantic’s Mistake day” while some are confused about why this happens so often.

Some players were softer on the devs themselves and blamed Niantic management, referencing the recent layoffs and shutdown of other mobile titles.

Some players are even commenting that they lost items like Lucky Eggs, Star Pieces, and Incenses. Apparently, those players who were able to log in and use the booster items, got immediately kicked out.

The recent announcement of a Riolu Hatch day has also left most players unsatisfied due to the event being too time gated and dependent on microtransactions.

If more issues keep popping up, then perhaps Niantic will introduce more makeup events. We will keep you informed if the company addresses these issues.
