Pokemon Go players shocked by impossible level 49 challenge they’ll “never complete”
NianticScaling levels in Pokemon Go is no easy task as trainers have to complete grueling challenges to reach level 50. But one of the requirements to reach level 49 has left many in disbelief, as they fear they won’t be able to get the job done.
Getting to Level 50 in Pokemon Go is the ultimate goal for every trainer as they take on Raids, complete Research tasks, catch new Pokemon, and grind PvP and PvE battles to reach the peak of the popular mobile game.
Crossing each level requires players to have collected a certain amount of XP while also completing the level-exclusive tasks. While the ‘Make 999 Excellent throws’ to reach level 50 is said to be a daunting one, players are now shocked over one particular task required to reach level 49.
A user named ‘patricknotswayze’ on Reddit shared a post captioned with: “This grind will take longer than the 999 excellent throws at the next level” with a screengrab of one of the requirements to reach level 49 in Pokemon Go, ‘Obtain 50 Lucky Pokemon in trades.”
Several Pokemon Go fans, who are yet to reach this stage of the game, were taken aback by the task and joined the comments section to express their disbelief.
Users wrote: “This is real ?!?! I didn’t know. Woof. So I’m never getting to 50” and “Glad to know I will be capped at lvl 49. Kind of disheartening honestly. Why force this on us.”
When a trainer asked: “I’m guessing this isn’t retroactively tracked? You have to be on level 48 then get the luckies?” pat came the reply: “Yes. Only lucky trades from the start of 48,” highlighting how challenging the task is for the community.
While getting a lucky trade is rare, some users pointed out how players can increase their chances of getting them during events such as the Chinese New Year extravaganza, where lucky trade chances are usually boosted.
That’s not all as trainers can also get guaranteed lucky trades with a certain trick. “Pokemon from 2016, 2017, and 2018 that are traded are guaranteed to be lucky,” a person mentioned.
But, it appears that getting lucky trades is not the concern as others pointed out the real issue. “I will never complete this… I literally have zero people to trade with and I refuse to have multiple accounts,” a player explained before another stated: “999 excellent throws is a breeze for me but I don’t have any local friends.”
Players without local friends or those in rural areas certainly have it more difficult than others at level 48 but with remote trading possibly becoming a thing, it would help the entire Pokemon Go community.
