Pokemon Go players sick of “ridiculous” catch rates in Mega Legendary Raids

The duo of Mega Latios and Latias are up for grabs in Pokemon Go Raids and players are eager to add these powerful Legendaries. However, trainers appear to have one major issue with these highly sought-after Pokemon.

5-Star Raid battles give Pokemon Go players an excellent opportunity to catch Legendaries in a challenging battle. But if there’s something more daunting, it’s the 6-Star Raids hosting Pokemon like Mega Latios and Latias.

Beating these Raids requires around eight or more trainers with high-level counters, so preparing for them is not easy. With so much to be mindful of, players hope to see their efforts pay off when they finally try to catch the base forms after beating the Raid.

But players grinding 6-Star Raids to catch these Legendaries have become extremely frustrated as evidenced by their comments on a Reddit post by user ‘bio-logic’ who wrote: “Why even try to raid?” as they shared their Pokemon Go journal that showed three Latias fleeing.

Pokemon Go fans feel that after all the hard work needed to defeat a 6-Star Raid, the catch rate of the Mega Legendary should be high, giving trainers a better chance to grab them.

But to their dismay, Latios and Latias seem to be fleeing more often than not, as a user highlighted: “Yeah for a T6 it’s pretty ridiculous to have these catch rates. It takes so much effort to get enough people together only for it to be worse than a coin flip on if you get it!? Ridiculous.”

One trainer said: “I’ve thrown 31 excellent curves on Latios today and haven’t caught any. 0 for 3,” indicating that good or bad throws weren’t a problem, as another added: “I’ve had 6 run away so far, hit mostly excellent throws and have the medals at gold. It’s absurd.”

Mega Latios and Mega Latias are both Dragon/Psychic-type Pokemon.

If the flee rate of these Megas wasn’t alarming already, fans pointed out another hurdle: “With premier balls (in 5-Star Raids) the catch rate scales with the amount of balls used. Having so little balls makes it difficult, why does a T6 raid net you less balls than a T5 raid?”

The low catch rates as well as the fewer number of Premier Balls in 6-Star Raids is undoubtedly frustrating but you would be glad to know that a shiny encounter is a guaranteed catch.

If you’re looking for more powerful Dragon-types to add to your team, here’s how to get Garchomp, Baxcalibur, and Kommo-o in Pokemon Go.
