Pokemon Go players slam “stupid” Egg hatching challenge for impossible grind
NianticCollection Challenges are popular among Pokemon Go fans but the Hatch Challenge from the Dazzling Dream event has been frowned upon for being an “impossible” task to complete for many players.
The Dazzling Dream event in Pokemon Go has been an exciting affair, as it featured the debut of shiny Cutiefly and Ribombee, spawns of various Flabebe colors, hosted attractive bonuses, and let players catch several Fairy-type Pokemon in the wild.
Like most events, the game included a Collection Challenge and a Hatch Challenge that revolved around catching and hatching Fairy-types, leading to an encounter with Carbink.
While trainers warmed up to the Collection Challenge, the Hatch Challenge, on the other hand, has been receiving a cold shoulder due to several concerns with the nature of the quest.
Reddit user ‘Ok_Needleworker1761’ posted a rant about the Dazzling Dream Hatch Challenge being “stupid” and elaborated that the quest, which involves hatching 7km Eggs to possibly get the required Pokemon, seems “forced” while also having underwhelming rewards.
The post received several comments from frustrated Pokemon Go players who narrated their woes about the ‘hated’ challenge.
A player wrote: “It’s literally freezing outside here, and I have a friend in Australia complaining about heat. This would be best during spring/fall so people in both hemispheres could stand a chance to walk more.”
You should note that the Northern Hemisphere is extremely cold in January while the Southern Hemisphere faces extremely hot weather, making it difficult for trainers to hatch multiple 7km Eggs by walking.
Additionally, the featured Egg Pokemon in the challenge have different hatch rates, making it a grueling effort for even those attempting to hatch all four species.
Users commented: “Four Eggs during a very short time window is wild” and “Most of the time they hatch Spritzee.” Another added: “The 7km Eggs part makes this challenge total bullsh*t. Not worth frostbite or incubators.”
Others stated that they hadn’t “been able to leave the house in days” as “walking is impossible” in such conditions. The community also agreed that any hatching tasks in events should be limited to “spring or fall.”
Funnily enough, when fans learned that the reward for completing the challenge is a Carbink encounter, they seemed glad to have given it a miss. “Don’t worry about it the reward is Carbink,” a person mentioned before a player wrote: “So it’s also not really that worthy.”
