Pokemon Go PokeStop Showcase rewards desperately need a revamp

PokeStop Showcases are very popular in Pokemon Go, and it’s high time the rewards for taking part and winning in them get a much-needed upgrade.

PokeStop Showcases are a fun and exciting mechanic in Pokemon Go that players take on during Community Days, the debut of a new Pokemon, and other monthly events.

While fans are frustrated with the lack of XXS species in Showcases, a bigger problem needs to be addressed ASAP: the inconsistency of rewards.

The crux of the problem here isn’t really the nature of the rewards. After all, you do get rewarded with plenty of XP and other juicy grabs like Egg Incubators, Incense, and TMs among others. That said, their frequency is very low, and more often than not, trainers get stuff they can easily get by spinning a PokeStop or Gym even from first place.

The current reward system works on how long the Showcase took place rather than how many participants were there. In other words, a Showcase that lasts for days brings cooler rewards than those on a Community Day. Additionally, the rewards for the first place among 100 trainers, and a single participant in a rural area are more or less the same.

A revamp should make the system more competitive, and with the best rewards being preserved for the top positions, it would encourage lower ranks to grind more and be as excited about finding an XXL Pokemon as a shiny.

After all, both PvP and PvE are often considered mundane and boring, and a refreshed Showcase reward system could instill new life into the popular mobile game and make any event all the more interesting. For instance, the Cleffa Hatch Day on April 28, 2024, could have been way better for user ‘SilentKiller2809’ but they expressed dismay over their Showcase rewards in a Reddit post, calling them “inconsistent and underwhelming.”

Other trainers jumped in to say that with items like Incubators and Lucky Eggs in the reward pool, they should get them more often for winning Showcases instead of the same old Lure Modules and TMs for the umpteenth time.

The OP grabbed Ultra Balls, Incense, Golden Razz Berry, a Fast TM, Stardust, and XP for first place. Though these rewards aren’t bad per se, another player chimed in: “I had the same results as you (two 1st and one 2nd) and got way better rewards, I had a super incubator and one or two Star Pieces among other things,” promoting the OP to call it “frustrating.”

Another added, “I got 1st 2nd and 22nd place and got 3 lures total 2 star pieces and a bunch of XP and dust, idk why it’s never consistent lol.”

With Go Fest 2024 featuring shiny Ultra Beasts and more, there are bound to be plenty of participants, so Pokemon Go should sort out its Showcase rewards to make the grand event more enjoyable.
