While Pokemon Go players wait for news regarding Pokemon Go Fest 2023, Niantic announced a new event coming soon to the AR Game. Solstice Horizons will bring a Day/Night theme to Pokemon Go with interesting spawns, bonuses, and a Special Research story you don’t want to miss.

Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the Pokemon Go Solstice Horizons event, including dates, a chance to get Cosmog, a new Team Go Rocket Takeover, and more.

Pokemon Go Solstice Horizons event dates

The Pokemon Go Solstice Horizons event will run from Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10 AM to Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 8 PM (local time).

The Pokemon Go Solstice Horizons event will highlight Pokemon that spawn during the day and at night. The following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild during the day:

  • Ledyba
  • Murkrow
  • Solrock
  • Drifloon

On the other hand, the following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild at night:

Shiny Fomantis debuts in Pokemon Go with the Solstice Horizons event. This means Sewaddle, Petilil, Hisuian Sneasel, Stunky, and Phantump are the only Pokemon listed above that can’t appear as shiny.

Pokemon Go Solstice Horizons Special Research story: Starry Skies

A new Special Research story starring Cosmog will be available for free to all trainers level 5 and up in Pokemon Go. All players have to do is log into the game between Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10 AM and Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 8 PM (local time) to kickstart it.

The Special Research titled Starry Skies gives players the chance to catch Legendary Pokemon Cosmog. Previous Research centered around Cosmog gave players enough Candy to evolve it into either Lunala or Solgaleo, so we expect Starry Skies to do the same. You can find everything you need to know about Cosmog and its evolutions in our complete guide.

Players can also spend $5 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) to get a second Starry Skies Special Research. This gives players the chance to get both Lunala and Solgaleo without having to choose only one.

After many events without one, Solstice Horizons will have Collection Challenges. Those who complete them will receive Stardust and Fomantis encounters.
