Pokemon Go to end year with “something really fun” ahead of new features in 2024
Niantic/The Pokemon CompanyDuring a recent interview, Pokemon Go devs spoke about the future of the game for 2024, and revealed that end of year content still has many things to offer to the players.
Pokemon Go surprised players during the August Pokemon Presents by announcing that the Paldea starters are joining the game soon. That has also left the community intrigued as to why they omitted Galar starters out of the blue.
During a recent interview with Dexerto, Pokemon Go devs spoke about the importance of creating new content for the community to enjoy. They expressed that this year has seen a lot of new features and that they will continue to deliver in 2024.
Kim Adams, Director of Art and Production of Pokemon Go stated: “Within 10 weeks we shipped four new features… and community was our focus, we wanted to ship everything about community right now.”
Pokemon Go has indeed seen an unusual amount of new features hitting the app like Shadow Raids or the most recent Routes feature, with its tricky Zygarde Cells mechanic.
Adams also explained to Dexerto that 2024 will have an entirely different focus, so that’s why they “wanted to ship everything about community right now.” The devs assured that the end of year content drop for 2023 is still on schedule.
As they expressed: “Next year will be a different theme that I can’t talk about right now, but this year’s not over yet. There’s something really fun coming before the end of the year.”
It will remain to be seen what else the Pokemon Go devs have in store for players. In the meantime, if you are still looking for more Pokemon content, check out the upcoming Pokemon Go Championship event and the current schedule for Spotlight Hours.
