Pokemon Go update leaves game unplayable thanks to unlikely culprit
NianticVersion 0.325.1 of Pokemon Go is rolling out, but this update is causing a major glitch with no spawns or PokeStops in sight. Strangely, it’s only happening with players donning certain avatar outfits.
Trainers with avatar clothing themed around Professor Willow, Team Magma, and Team Rocket are unable to find any Pokemon to catch, and no PokeStops or Gyms to spin for items, making the game unplayable.
Reddit user ‘Breezer_Pindakaas’ was among the many affected by this weird glitch and warned others not to update until the issue was patched by devs Niantic.
The OP pointed out they wore the Team Magma outfit and added: “Guess buying premium items now gets you a nice risk to get softlocked.”
Many fans faced the same issue and mentioned that uninstalling and installing the game again didn’t help them. Unfortunately, taking the issue to the Niantic Support chat didn’t bear any fruit either.
To this, a few suggested reinstalling the older 0.323.1 version. “Once you are in the game on the older version, completely reset your avatar so it doesn’t stop working again when it updates,” a player stated.
While Android users can reroll to an older version, iOS cannot so they’ll have to wait until the “broken” outfits are fixed. However, one player found an ingenious way to get around it.
They wrote, “Had the same issue, luckily my son did not update Pokemon Go on his phone, so I logged in on his device, changed my outfit and now it’s working again!”
So, if you know someone who’s yet to update their game, you can use their device to change the bugged outfit and avoid the issues caused by the patch.
If you’ve already updated Pokemon Go and are facing this issue, you can take on the Go Battle League or battle Team Rocket Grunts in the meantime.
