A new Pokemon Go season is right around the corner, and while players wait for an official announcement, Niantic revealed a new event coming very soon. Trainers are in for a treat thanks to new debuts and bonuses coming to the AR game with the Water Festival: Beach Week event.

Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event dates
The Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event takes place from Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10 AM to Monday, June 12, 2023, at 8 PM (local time).
Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event debuts
Both Sandygast and Palossand will debut in Pokemon Go during the Water Festival: Beach Week event. The Sand Heap Pokemon will be available through Field Research tasks and Raids. However, players will need to spend 50 Sandygast Candy to evolve it into Palossand, the Sand Castle Pokemon.
Since both Pokemon are debuting, trainers won’t be able to find them in shiny form yet.
Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event Global Challenge
A Global Challenge will take place throughout the Water Festival: Beach Week event in Pokemon Go. Players will need to work together to make a grand total of 300 million Nice Throws to unlock the following bonuses:
- Increased Candy for Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws.
- Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokemon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws.
Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event wild encounters
The following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild during the Water Festival: Beach Week event, with shiny Clauncher finally making its debut in Pokemon Go:

- Shellder
- Krabby
- Alolan Exeggutor
- Horsea
- Staryu
- Marill
- Wingull
- Wailmer
- Spheal
- Finneon
- Dwebble
- Frillish
- Clauncher
- Mantine
- Popplio
With shiny Clauncher’s debut in the game, Popplio is the only Pokemon on the list that players can’t catch in shiny form.
Water Festival: Beach Week Spotlight Hour
On June 6, 2023, from 6 PM to 7 PM (local time), trainers will have the chance to celebrate a special Spotlight Hour with boosted spawns of Krabby, Kabuto, Corphish, Clauncher, and Crabrawler. The active bonus will be 3x Catch XP.

5-Star Raids
- Uxie (Asia-Pacific)
- Mesprit (Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India)
- Azelf (Americas and Greenland)
Mega Raids
- Mega Swampert
All Raid bosses can appear shiny, except for Sandygast and Hisuian Qwilfish.
Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event bonuses
This additional bonus will be active during the Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event:
- 4x Rainy Lure duration
Pokemon Go Water Festival: Beach Week event Field & Timed Research
Pokemon Go players that spin PokeStops during the Water Festival: Beach Week event might get an event-exclusive Field Research task. Completing these tasks will let trainers encounter the following Pokemon:
- Lapras wearing a scarf
- Frillish
- Binacle
- Clauncher
- Sandygast
Additional Field Research tasks have Blastoise and Swampert Mega Energy as rewards.
There will also be a Ticketed Timed Research for players to enjoy. Those who complete the research tasks will earn a surfer pose for their avatar as well as encounters with event-themed Pokemon.
The Water Festival: Beach Week Timed Research Ticket will only be available in the in-game shop from Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10 AM to Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 8 PM (local time), and it will cost $5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).
