Passimian is making an unexpected debut in Pokemon Go during the upcoming Pokemon World Championships Celebration event. The special event will also include a commemorative costumed Pikachu, and here’s all you need to know about the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event.

The Pokemon World Championships is set to begin on August 8, 2023, and will be held in Yokohama, Japan’s 2nd largest city center. The event will host a celebration, parades, a new Pokemon Presents, and many other activities prior to the competitive Championship matches.

It is no surprise that big announcements like the debut of a new Pokemon in Pokemon Go will also be held during the event. So, here’s all you need to know about Passimian’s debut in the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event.

Pokemon Go Passimian debut & new costumed Pikachu

According to the official Pokemon Go site, Passimian will make its debut during the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event, and will be accompanied by a new costumed Pikachu to commemorate the Pokemon World Championships 2023.

The World Championships 2023 Pikachu will appear in the wild, and also be available as an encounter reward for completing Timed Research and Field Research. It can also be shiny, so, be on the lookout for that special Pikachu.

The Passimian debut will be accompanied with a new costumed Pikachu to celebrate Worlds Championship 2023.

Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event Bonuses

During the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event, the following bonuses will be active:

  • Maximum number of sets in Pokemon Go Battle league increased from 5 to 10.
  • Pokemon encountered via Go Battle League rewards will have a wider variance of Attack, Defense and HP.

Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event Timed Research

During the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event, you will have more exclusive Research tasks to complete and a new costumed Pikachu featuring celebration clothes akin to that of the official Pokemon World Championships 2023 as the main reward for both.

According to the official event blog, the Timed Research will be available throughout the event, and will reward an Elite Fast TM, and an encounter with a World Championships 2023 Pikachu, among other things. The reward encounters will have a higher chance for a Shiny costumed Pikachu.

Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event wild encounters & Raids

During the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event, the following Pokemon will be highlighted in wild encounters. Pokemon marked with a ‘*’ have a chance to be Shiny:

  • Machop*
  • Chinchou*
  • Wooper*
  • Sableye*
  • Meditite*
  • Spheal*
  • Drilbur*
  • Scraggy*
  • Bunnelby*
  • Wooloo

The following Pokemon will also appear, but at a reduced rate:

  • Onix*
  • Lickytung*

Shiny Scraggy is also making its debut during the event, so be sure to take this chance to get this Pokemon while it is highlighted.

During the Pokemon Go Championships Event, you will have more chances to get these shiny Pokemon.

Field research task encounters will feature the following Pokemon.

The following Attacks will be featured during the event, so the Pokemon you evolve will learn the corresponding Fast Attack and Charged Attack combo:

  • Alolan Sandslash: Shadow Claw (Fast Attack).
  • Machamp: Payback (Charged Attack).
  • Dewgong: Ice Shard (Fast Attack) and Icy Wind (Charged Attack).
  • Walrein: Powder Snow (Fast Attack) and Icicle Spear (Charged Attack).
  • Obstagoon: Obstruct (Charged Attack).

During the Pokemon Go World Championships Celebration event, Niantic will feature new Avatar Items to celebrate this occasion. During the official broadcast, they will display a code for the event T-shirt to redeem at the Pokemon Go avatar clothes shop.

During the event, two giveaway T-shirts will be distributed in game and through streaming.

The 2023 Worlds T-Shirt (Yellow) will be available globally via a code shared during the World Championships stream on the first day of the competition, and the 2023 Worlds T-shirt (Gray), will be available globally in the in-app shop at no cost from August 11, 2023.

The new 2023 Worlds Jersey and Jacket will also be available to purchase in the Shop beginning on August 11.
