Pokemon Go’s most underrated Berries are key to catching OP Shadow Lugia
NianticShadow Lugia is soon coming to Raids in Pokemon Go. Beating this Legendary is daunting but catching it is another ballgame since it hits back Poke Balls. However, a rarely-used Berry makes it much easier to catch.
Nanab Berries may not be used as much as other variants but its ability to calm down a Pokemon goes a long way in landing Excellent Throws. This is crucial when you have limited Balls to catch a Shadow Legendary.
So, when Reddit user ‘schwicksqueegee’ posted about deleting Nanab Berries after their in-game storage space was full, fellow trainers jumped into the comments section to highlight how important these items are.
Several users revealed that Nanab Berries were instrumental in catching Shadow Lugia during its last appearance in October 2023. They suggested the OP save them for the upcoming Raids hosting this powerful Legendary.
Others pointed out that during these past battles with Shadow Lugia, it was “easier to catch them with Nanabs than Golden Razz Berries.” Note that Golden Razz Berries give a higher catch rate yet, Nanabs proved to be more effective.
Keep in mind that Shadow Lugia will be available in a Raid Weekend event on August 10 and 11. You can’t use Remote Raid Passes so you’ll have to battle them in person.
While the Raid Weekend is a one-off event for the current Season, fans also added how they use Nanabs during regular gameplay. A trainer explained, “Feeding my buddy, gyms, and shadow Pokemon. Those guys are always moving around!”
More users vouched for using these Berries on Shadow species, as they are some of the best attackers in the game thanks to the 20% boost they get to their offensive power.
Once you catch Shadow Lugia in Pokemon Go, power it up for the Go Battle League, particularly in the Master tier.
