Pokemon poll reveals most popular Generation & it’s not Sinnoh
The Pokemon CompanyFans of the popular Pokemon franchise gathered to decide once and for all which is the “best” generation. Trainers cast their votes, and the results were completely shocking.
Pokemon players are always discussing which are their favorite species. Be it that they love playing Pokemon Go or they are fans of the mainline games, they are always grinding their gears trying to figure out which is the best Gen of all time.
So it is no surprise that a group of Pokemon fans conducted a poll to try to solve this dispute once and for all. Fans from all places gathered on the Pokemon subreddit to cast their votes, and though it was a disputed race to the top, we finally have a winner.
This was posted by Reddit user ‘Starlight2522,’ who sparked the heated debate and also arbitrated the survey while the fans decided which generation to choose.
Turns out, the fan’s favorite Pokemon generation ended up being the third (AKA Gen 3 – Hoenn) with a total of 3.2k votes. The second and third places are Gen 4 and 5 (Sinnoh and Unova).
In fourth place, with 2.2k votes, was Johto, Gen 2 games that included Gold, Silver, Crystal, and their remakes: Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Kanto, the first generation, ended up being the fifth place. While Alola (Gen 7) placed sixth, and Kalos (Gen 6) ended in the seventh position.
What surprises us most is that generations 9 and 8 (Paldea and Galar) were the least voted. But it is also true that Galarian and Paldean Pokemon designs were heavily criticized by fans, considering them “not up to standards.”
One of the fans expressed the reason behind their decision: “Gens 3-5 is peak Pokémon. Best mainline games and best remakes with FR/LG and HG/SS.” And another one answered: “Plus emerald, colosseum, and xd for gen 3. I had a s**t load of Pokemon content across all 5.”
Meanwhile, not all trainers agree with the validity of this survey: “This poll is basically a proxy for which Pokemon game most people started with lol.” To which another player quickly responded: “Not for everyone. Gen 1 was my first and I played the shit out of Gen 2. Gen 4 is hands down my favorite.”
So there you have it, Gen 3 (Hoenn) is the fan’s favorite Generation, at least according to this survey. And while we wait for the next Pokemon Day announcements, here’s the next big Pokemon Scarlet and Violet event: Mass Outbreak Day.
