Pokemon Scarlet & Violet player reveals how to bring beloved 20-year-old teams to DLC
The Pokemon CompanyOne of the unknown features in Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC is bringing back original teams from Pokemon games as old as 20 years, and with many eager to get this done, a trainer has come to the rescue.
The Indigo Disk DLC of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has fans abuzz with its new Pokemon, returning Legendaries, the Synchro Machine feature, and challenging battles against the BB Elite Four.
With a packed roster of species to catch and evolve, most trainers create new teams. That said, a large section of fans would rather have their teams from previous games in the Blueberry Academy, and now, a player has shared how.
It all started when the player in question, named ‘tjtroublemaker’ on Reddit, shared a post showing their Pokemon team from two decades ago, captioned with: “Back together after 20 years.”
They further wrote: “Don’t mind me, just chillin with my 22y/o Blaziken, Swampert and Heracross, and 20 y/o Tyranitar, Mewtwo and Pikachu Thanks to the DLC they can finally come to a switch game together. Just thought that was cool.”
The post immediately caught the attention of several Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers who wanted to know how they could bring their beloved teams to the DLC.
After a user asked, “Can someone explain how you transfer from that far back? Can you transfer Red/Blue/Yellow (R/B/Y) into Switch still?” the OP gave a detailed reply:
“R/B/Y can only be transferred from the digital versions on the 3ds. I have one of the DS’ with the GBA slot so I used that to bring my Ruby emerald LG Pokemon to Diamond. I have to kinda re-remember what exactly to do and where to go every time. As long as you still have Pokémon bank and poke transfer on a switch you should be good.”
Also, when a trainer wrote: “This is the most beautiful of sights. I have my Pikachu from Pokemon Yellow in Scarlet with me!” the OP added: “I was so worried I’d never get to have my OG Ruby/LG team in a game together again. Had em in a HOME box with my other retired teams from other old games.”
As another chimed in: “Wow, how on Earth did you get a Pokémon from Yellow? That’s incredible, I hope he’s having fun in 3D,” a player replied: “Virtual console most likely.”
The revelation of this method made fans “super emotional” as they look forward to bringing their OG teams to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
