Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players explain how to make popular DLC trading feature even better
The Pokemon CompanyAfter completing the Indigo Disk DLC, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can head to their League club rooms to interact with various characters, but fans are calling for a few updates to one popular feature.
Once Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players catch the Legendary Terapagos at the end of the Indigo Disk DLC, they return to their Blueberry League club rooms to relax with their Pokemon and friends after their incredible adventure.
There’s still so much more to do in these customizable spaces, but nothing is probably more exciting than meeting your favorite NPCs (non-playable characters) from Paldea, Kitakami, and even the Blueberry Academy.
Alongside plenty of dialogue that offers insight into the origins of these beloved characters, trainers can also trade Pokemon with them, a feature that has generated a lot of buzz among the community.
But it looks like players aren’t exactly pleased with the limitations of this popular trading interaction, as they call for some updates to the feature.
It all began after a user named ‘Bunselpower’ on Reddit shared a post captioned with: “Just wanted to say thanks to my main man, Larry, but the game decided otherwise” as the OP attached a screengrab from the Indigo Disk DLC that showed that they were unable to trade a shiny Pokemon with Larry while adding: “In my head he refused it on account of him liking normal stuff.”
The post prompted many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to chip in with comments on how this trading feature can be improved.
A user wrote: “I wish that whatever Pokemon you traded to them would get leveled up and incorporated into their team.”
Another player stated how they had a similar experience with the NPC Iono: “I tried so hard to give Iono a Zekrom. APPARENTLY Nintendo thinks that random gym leaders shouldn’t have a godlike being of the universe? idk so I tried trading her a shiny Pawmi but APPARENTLY THAT DOESN’T WORK EITHER. Unfortunately I had to settle.”
To this, one fan mentioned: “You also can’t trade Ogerpon to Kieren.” As more fans requested for the NPCs to be able to “use the Pokemon that you trade them in battle” as well as shinies and Legendaries, one player added a very interesting tidbit from a previous game.
“Fun fact, in Gen V there’s an NPC you can trade an Excadrill to, and then she’ll later challenge you to a battle with it. If you traded her a shiny it’ll retain the shinyness!” the person wrote.
While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may not let you trade special species with the NPCs, you can go over to the Crystal Pool in Kitakami, alongside your Koraidon/Miraidon, and unlock a secret cutscene with a familiar face.
