One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player shared an absolutely broken build for the Venusaur Tera Raid using Hisuian Goodra. It turns out the Pokemon is “immune” to damage, allowing players to easily farm the Raid rewards.

To celebrate Pokemon Day 2024, Scarlet and Violet players are getting Tera Raid Battles featuring the original starter trio. The Charizard and Blastoise Tera Raids are set to follow the currently active Venusaur Tera Raid in Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon with the Mightiest Mark in 7-Star Raid can pose a real challenge for players, which makes using the best counters a necessity to breeze through them. One player has created a Hisuian Goodra build that can easily handle the Venusaur Tera Raid thanks to it being immune to damage.

Reddit user Alpha_Clement shared the Hisuian Goodra build that essentially breaks the Venusaur Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:

  • Item: Air Balloon
  • Ability: Sap Sipper
  • Tera Type: Steel
  • Nature: Brave
  • Moveset: Gyro Ball (Max PP), Curse, Protect, Iron Head

Thanks to the combination of Air Balloon and Sap Sipper, Venusaur cannot deal damage to Hisuian Goodra, making it “immune” to the Tera Raid boss.

However, players will still need to deal considerable damage to complete the Raid in time. To do so, the OP highlights the need for lowering Hisuian Goodra’s speed as much as possible using IVs and Curse. This will allow Gyro Ball to deal a ton of damage to Venusaur.

They suggest to, “begin the raid with 3 Ice Spinner / Iron Head. Wait [until] Venusaur resets your stats and use Protect with Tera Steel because he ignores Sap Sipper for the turn. Setup 6 Curse and spam Gyro Ball for the rest of the raid.”

Using Protect after Venusaur disables your abilities is vital to maintain Hisuian Goodra’s immunity, as Sap Sipper will come back into effect on the following turn.

Players shared their success trying the strategy that leads to farming the rewards from the Raid: “ty find this set easier compared to the Chesnaught one.”

Keep in mind that Gyro Ball will deal significantly less damage to Venusaur if your partner Pokemon in the Tera Raid use speed-lowering moves on Venusaur.
