Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players are all about catching the myriad of new Pokemon included in the Indigo Disk DLC. But some of them have noticed a key breeding feature missing, and they are eager to see it returning to the core games.

Pokemon trainers are roaming through Blueberry Academy in the new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. And even though some highly requested gimmicks of the game have been added with the latest expansion, some missing features are making players anxious.

One of them is the old breeding mechanic, which according to some players seems to have “dropped in quality” in the latest iteration of the Pokemon franchise.

For some trainers, the old Nursery mechanic is far superior to the current Picnic Basket one, and here’s why trainers believe it so.

This was posted by Reddit user ‘RelativeAddendum4281’, and it immediately sparked a heated discussion about the current status of the breeding feature in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and why it should return to how it was in the previous games.

The OP commented: “Pokemon Nursery vs Picnic. Which breeding method do you like better?” And immediately, the community shifted the balance towards Nursery, as the preferred breeding method for Pokemon.

One of the players explained their reasons for disliking the Picnic breeding feature: “I am not a big fan of the picnic mechanic. I like to be able to breed Pokémon while I do other stuff, not be trapped running around waiting for an egg to appear.”

While another user quickly agreed and suggested a way to improve this mechanic: “100%. If they just took the basket feature where you can have up to 10 eggs waiting for you at once and added it to the preexisting daycare system from SW/SH, they would’ve created the perfect breeding system.”

Then, a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet player pointed out an important flaw in this gimmick: “I also don’t like having to make sandwiches for Egg Power or paying $1,300 for a pre-made sandwich to eat for Egg Power.” And another angry user added: “I hate that sandwiches don’t affect egg shinies.”

It would seem that the majority of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players miss the old Nursery breeding mechanic, and are eager to see it returning in future Pokemon games.
