The Blastoise Tera Raid battle event is live in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and players are picking Vaporeon as the best possible counter.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is hosting exciting Tera Raid battles featuring Gen 1 starters after the Pokemon Day 2024 celebrations. After tough Venusaur Raids, Blastoise took over and is headlining 7-Star Tera Raids for players to tackle.

With a Steel Tera Type, players have to figure out the best strategy to defeat the Unrivaled Blastoise in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and many found the perfect counter in another fan-favorite Gen 1 creature. Trainers are picking Vaporeon as their main counter to defeat Blastoise with the Mightiest Mark, especially when trying to solo the Raid.

Reddit user ‘lumfdoesgaming’ shared their Vaporeon build for this Raid, detailing it needs the following:

  • Max Special Attack
  • Max Special Defense
  • Ground Tera Type
  • Water Absorb Ability
  • Metronome as held item
  • Moveset:
    • Tera Blast
    • Calm Mind
    • Surf
    • Haze

On the other hand, another trainer also shared their Vaporeon strategy with a different approach, meaning the Eeveelution can work very well in different scenarios.

The recipe is:

  1. Calm Mind x3
  2. Sunny Day
  3. Weather Ball x3
  4. Terastalization
  5. Weather Ball x2
  6. Terablast until he resets your stats

“It was easy and it was very replicable, I don’t think it makes any difference which NPC companions you get, there was never a risk of Vaporeon falling, the main risk is the timer,” commented Reddit user ‘Kyele13.’

In the comments, trainers shared their own builds to confirm Vaporeon is the go-to counter, especially for players in offline Tera Raids. “I went with solo with Vaporeon too, but in my case it was Fire Tera,” commented one player and added their moveset: “Fake tear, calm mind, Sunny day and weather ball.”

Alongside players thanking the OP, others also confirmed Iron Hands and Arceus with Fighting-type moves are extremely effective as well.

Most players tried these counters against Empoleon not too long ago, and they seem to work great with Blastoise as well. If you need any help figuring out your strategy, you can check our guide on how to beat the Blastoise Tera Raid.
