Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players spot Johto Easter eggs in Pecharunt’s lore
The Pokemon CompanyThe Untold Story of Pecharunt finally sheds light on the formidable Mythical Pokemon of Scarlet and Violet. Now, fans seem to have spotted a few details hidden in plain sight that point toward Pecharunt’s connection with the beloved Johto region.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans noticed several Easter eggs and hints regarding Pecharunt in the Teal Mask DLC. And, with the culmination of the Indigo Disk DLC, players were finally able to catch this Mythical Pokemon in the Kitakami Epilogue.
However, despite completing the Mochi Mayhem quest, the community still didn’t have all the answers to Pecharunt’s origins, but now, thanks to the Untold Story of Pecharunt narrating all the events involving Pecharunt, Ogerpon, its masks, and the Loyal Three, people have more clarity on the lore.
But there seems to be more than meets the eye, as several fans have spotted some interesting references that seem to indicate Pecharunt having a strong connection to the Johto region.
The first hint was noticed by a user with the handle ‘Light_88_’ on the X app (formerly Twitter) who shared screengrabs of the old couple from the Pecharunt story on YouTube alongside the daycare couple in the Gen 2 games.
It is speculated by the OP that the old couple took care of Pecharunt and “decided to make a daycare and take care of other Pokemon.”
Several Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players took to the comments section and lauded the “dope” theory as one pointed out that though the timeline wouldn’t match with Pecharunt’s lore being very old, the Johto daycare couple could be descendants.
A keen-eyed fan commented: “Definitely Ecruteak from the old days,” referencing the location shown in the video having similarities to the said city in the Johto region. Coincidentally, the daycare couple are in the same city.
As more users mentioned that the theory “makes sense,” another post by X user ‘Karn_EX’ highlighted a parallel between Pecharunt’s antics in its backstory and Johto lore.
The OP stated how both cases show three Pokemon coming “back from the dead” by another species with a “higher dex number.”
In the comments, the OP also elaborated that Gen 2 games were the first to introduce Berries in the Pokemon franchise, even though they were formally included in-game from Gen 3. Coincidentally, Pecharunt is based on the Pecha Berry.
All these hints have fans convinced that Johto remakes could be on the horizon and Pecharunt could very well be a part of the long-awaited game, perhaps giving it a major part in the storyline.
Pecharunt is not the only Mythical in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as you can also get Meloetta in the Indigo Disk DLC and even add other powerful species like Archaludon to your team, which does well against Pecharunt in the final boss battle.
