Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players uncover why DLC Champ Kieran is so weak
The Pokemon CompanyThe Indigo Disk DLC Blueberry champ Kieran may have given Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players a challenging battle, but he got thrashed by Nemona multiple times in the Epilogue. A keen-eyed player may have discovered why, and fans couldn’t agree more.
The Indigo Disk DLC of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gave fans challenging double battles with the BB (Blueberry) Elite Four and champion Kieran, who built a powerful team with Pokemon such as Hydrapple and Dragonite, among others.
But a certain sequence in the Kitakami Epilogue threw fans off-guard when Kieran revealed that he couldn’t defeat Nemona in several battles, prompting them to wonder just how strong she truly is.
Now, a trainer may have discovered why Kieran is not as formidable as many thought him to be, while others gave insights into Nemona’s superior battling skills.
The details about Kieran came to light after Reddit user ‘Lord_Webotama’ made a post titled “So, Kieran wasn’t a “true” champion?” and wrote:
“I’m finishing the DLC and just beat Kieran and was disappointed that I got no ribbon for it. Then it dawned on me, he’s the champion of a ‘Pokemon League’ Club, they are playing pretend in school for fun, not a real Pokemon League.”
The OP further added: “Spoilers for the DLC ahead: That’s why Kieran is canonically weaker than Nemona.”
Several Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players agreed with the OP as they shared their views on the BB Elite Four.
A user wrote: “Yeah I don’t think the Blueberry School Clubs were ever meant to be a real elite 4, just some gym trainers kids who had heard of E4 stories growing up making their own battling club” before mentioning Kieran in particular:
“He defeated the standing members and thus was deemed ‘champion,’ but it’s more a school kid status rather than ‘real world’ gym leaders and champions.”
A fan speculated: “I think it’s fairly safe to say that the BB League top 5 are at best Gym Leader/low E4 level” as another stated that Kieran’s “no pushover.”
Trainers also discussed just how strong Nemona is. “Remember that Nemona beat [Top Champion Geeta] and she wasn’t even trying,” one person wrote while some also pointed out that Kieran was able to hold off Arven, Penny, and Kitakami’s entire population in the Epilogue but not Nemona.
Others praised Nemona for being a “genuine beast” in battles and how her team is “a collection of differently typed mons,” making her a formidable opponent.
Regardless of Kieran’s and Nemona’s one-sided bout, Pokemon fans enjoyed the storyline and lore in the DLC and the Epilogue, with them lauding the two characters in particular.
