Drayton is the strongest BB Elite Four member in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC and players have to be cautious about not only the challenging Pokemon battle but also an important detail during the Drayton Trial in the DLC.

The Indigo Disk DLC of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has earned a lot of praise from fans for its tough BB Elite Four battles and the various Pokemon found across the Blueberry Academy Terarium.

While the BB Elite Four members Lacey, Crispin, and Amarys put on a difficult battle, the bout with Dragon-type expert Drayton is the toughest nut to crack, second only to the battle with champion Kieran.

Now, several fans have shared a common mistake that trainers are making before the Trial with Drayton, and it’s something that may change the tide of the challenge.

A user named ‘Tha_D4ze’ shared a Reddit post that highlighted a sequence from the Indigo Disk DLC and wrote: “Raid Pokemon doesn’t count as «caught in Terarium»” referring to the team you need to use for the Trial with Drayton.

The OP further added: “Caught a Fire Terra Metagross in the Savanna biome, but it doesn’t meet the Draytons Trial Conditions:/ Intentional?”

The post led several Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to share their experiences in the comments section, mentioning how many of them had the same “confusion.”

Trainers commented: “I didn’t realize this and kept getting frustrated that it wouldn’t let me do the challenge” and “Made that same mistake. Thought I’d be slick by coming in with a team of raid Pokes I caught in the Terarium then raised to 100. Whoopsie haha.”

Some who were aware of the Trial conditions beforehand went on to mistakenly assume that the same rules would apply to the actual battle with Drayton and the one with Kieran.

Users corrected them by writing: “You can use any Pokemon for Drayton. Just the trial was Terarium Pokemon” as well as “In his dialogue, he tells you that you can change back to your normal team now before you challenge him.”

While Drayton makes it clear that trainers can only use Pokemon caught in the Terarium, a user elaborated on this by adding: “Another thing that doesn’t count is Pokemon caught but not evolved in the Terarium. I caught a Duraladon but evolved it in the school store and couldn’t use it.”

It looks like players cannot use Pokemon caught or evolved outside the Terarium as well as those from Raids for Drayton’s Trial but they can use any species for the battle against him, the rest of the BB Elite Four, and Kieran.
