Where is Kitakami located in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask?
In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask, players travel to Kitakami island.
A mountain landscape reigns over the land of Kitakami, and the people who live at its base cultivate rice, apples, and other agricultural products. It is a peaceful land, characterized by its plains close to the shoreline.
The region is inspired by classical Japanese culture and even has several Shinto-style shrine-like structures. The main cultural center of the region, called Kitakami Hall, honors this tradition and its Mask festival is inspired by traditional Japanese culture.
Who are The Loyal Three in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask?
The Loyal Three are a trio of guardian Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC that are said to be the ancient protectors of the land of Kitakami, responsible for keeping Ogerpon at bay and preventing it from committing mischief and sowing chaos.
Okidogi, Fezandipiti, and Munkidori are three Pokemon that some consider a mere legend, but that in fact, inhabit the region and roam the lands keeping it safe. They can be seen as balance keepers and protectors of nature.
In Kitakami lore, this trio of guardian Pokemon defeated Ogerpon, driving it away from Mossui town and forcing it to hide, while at the same time, they took three of its masks. Those masks are kept as a memento inside Kitakami Hall, and each year a festival is celebrated in honor of these Pokemon.
Who is Ogerpon & what is The Teal Mask in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask, Ogerpon is a Legendary Pokemon linked to the Kitakami region lore. It is said that it used to have the power to spark the fire of the mountain, to flood the rivers, to make the fields grow, and to make the land break in its wake.
The real identity of this Pokemon is that of a Legendary vagrant and mischievous trickster. It hides in the mountains and plays tricks, but hardly is the Oger that the people of the Kitakami region think it is.
Ogerpon is inspired by the classic mountain Oni/Oger, and it is the only Pokemon that has different Terastallized forms, depending on the mask it wears.
The Teal Mask is Ogerpon’s standard mask and grants it the power to bring life back to any withered green in its surroundings. It’s the only remaining mask it has left from its previous encounter with The Loyal Three.
The Wellspring Mask is another of Ogerpon’s masks, currently being exhibited as a museum piece in the Kitakami Hall. With its Wellsping Mask, Ogerpon turns into a Grass/Water Pokemon, releasing a torrent of attacks and controlling the flow of the rivers.
The Hearthflame Mask grants Ogerpon the power of fire and can turn its surroundings into a raging sea of flames.
The Cornerstone Mask grants Ogerpon the power to control the mountains and the rocks. With its Cornerstone Mask, Ogerpon has the power to break stones and is capable of becoming incredibly durable, protecting itself from all attacks.
What is the Kitakami Mask festival in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask?
The Kitakami Mask festival in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask is an annual celebration that the people of Kitakami organize to commemorate the legend of The Loyal Three and their triumph against the evil Ogerpon.
In said festival, the Three Masks are exhibited as part of the celebration, and people from all over the region come to the Kitakami Hall to enjoy the festival, remember the story of The Loyal Three, and enjoy several cultural activities and food stalls.
In The Teal Mask story, this festival will be central to the development of the school exchange experience, but to avoid further spoilers, we will let trainers discover it for themselves.
